102: Y the Last Man Part 1 (2025 Let's Read)
Summary
In this episode of Comic Dudes, hosts Dave, Matt, and Erik dive into a detailed discussion of 'Y the Last Man' by Brian K. Vaughan. Dave CDWA (00:02.448)
Welcome back to the Comic Dudes, podcast about comic books and comic book related things. My name is Dave with me as always, Matt, my esteemed co-host and partner in crime. How you doing?
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (00:14.408)
I'm doing great. I'm fired up to talk about a new series that I have not read. I'm pretty pumped.
Dave CDWA (00:21.894)
Do you want to talk about any of our crimes?
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (00:24.846)
Crimes? What crimes have we...
Y-not? (00:26.132)
Partner in crime, he said.
Dave CDWA (00:27.578)
Bro, I just called you my partner in crime.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (00:29.161)
man, it's been a long day. It's been a long day. No, Partners and Cr- Is that like a playoff to the Ninja Turtles? We like, we have some deep continuity. Didn't that- sings that Ninja Turtles song?
Dave CDWA (00:36.806)
I mean, there's no funnier joke than one you have to explain,
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (00:40.11)
I'll just try it.
Y-not? (00:41.34)
Do you want to just talk about being partners? No? Okay. He did.
Dave CDWA (00:44.078)
No, he ruined it. But that third voice is our other esteemed co-host, Eric. It's been a while, Eric, how are you?
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (00:45.07)
Sorry.
Y-not? (00:50.388)
You
Y-not? (00:54.098)
It has been a while. I'm okay. I've been busy. I'm glad to get back to it.
Dave CDWA (00:59.408)
Good, we're glad to get back to it too. Eric's voice should signify something for all of you. But before we get into that, I just wanna remind everyone if you'd like to interact with us, you can join our Discord. That's the best place to do it. We like to talk about comics and video games and sports and things and movies and things and things and stuff. You can do that. You can also follow our Instagram. We're on a regular posting schedule on Instagram, so.
Y-not? (01:01.683)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (01:28.24)
There's content going up there. Some of it's just video clips from episodes. I like to post every week some books that we're reading. I usually post that on Sundays and other little things are coming. I'm cooking up some other content. We're not quite ready to share it yet, but there's some other stuff coming. That'll be on Instagram, TikTok. I don't know if it's going to be here long-term. So I've backed away from the TikTok posting. Instagram is where to find it.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (01:42.36)
cooking.
Dave CDWA (01:55.002)
And can also share the podcast. I think it's been a while since I've begged anyone to share the podcast, but I'm back to begging. So if you have friends, partners, coworkers, anyone that might find a comic book podcast interesting, why don't you tell them about us, man? We'd appreciate it.
And if you don't, you're dead to me.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (02:15.598)
You
Dave CDWA (02:18.576)
So this is a Let's Read episode. Last year, we read the boys to mixed reviews. Started off low, we got lower. We got back to low. We got lower. We got back to low. We got lower. We stayed lower. Then we shot up to this is actually pretty enjoyable. We finished really strong.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (02:24.558)
Boy did we. Boy did we.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (02:40.472)
You gotta just...
Dave CDWA (02:47.012)
I don't think this year will be the same, but we're reading Why the Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan, and I am unfortunately blanking on his co-creator's name and penciler. Someone look that up for me real quick. Yes, thank you. It's about the last man on earth. And for the first time for our Let's Reads.
Y-not? (03:00.501)
her name is Pia Guerra. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (03:15.418)
We have some of the guys in the Discord reading along with us. This is fun. So now they can listen to the episodes and then we can talk about what we all read together in the Discord. Doesn't that sound fun?
Y-not? (03:24.852)
That is fun. Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (03:26.894)
It's like a book club, a digital book club.
Dave CDWA (03:28.442)
Yeah, it's like a comic book club. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe we should have called the podcast that.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (03:32.469)
Yeah.
Y-not? (03:33.319)
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (03:39.064)
We went through too many name revisions. it's like, we, I'm sure, yeah. Yeah, we.
Y-not? (03:39.07)
That's probably, I bet that exists. There has to be a comic book club already.
Dave CDWA (03:42.96)
Probably does.
Probably does. Maybe it's a Highlander situation and we could fight them for it.
Dave CDWA (03:54.146)
Anyway, the way these Let's Read episodes work, I recap what we read, hitting the high notes. I'll leave some stuff out. So if you haven't read this yet and you do choose to read it, there'll be some things you can experience for yourself the first time. And then we're going to talk about it. We're going to talk about the things that we liked, the good, the things that we didn't, the bad. Last year, our third category was outrageous things that happened because of a comic that we were reading.
This year, Eric had the idea to just talk about questions that we have going into the next volume. our third category will be, what questions do we have after what we just read, and what do we think is coming next? And we're not going to do our favorite and least likable characters this year. That was a boys only thing. Fellas, anything else you want to add before I get into this recap?
Y-not? (04:45.096)
Did you ever watch the TV show, The Last Man on Earth?
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (04:45.358)
Let's get ready.
Dave CDWA (04:49.348)
Unfortunately I did.
Y-not? (04:53.044)
I liked that show. I've never watched the TV show based on this series, the one with, no, the one with Will Forte called The Last Man on Earth. Pretty fun. Not like this.
Dave CDWA (04:58.984)
I thought that's what you were talking about was the no, I did not watch that.
Dave CDWA (05:07.942)
Yeah, the show. Why the last man that was on I believe it was on Max. Was it on Max was on FX that was on FX. So I remember seeing commercials for that Legion show. Well, why was on? Not great.
Y-not? (05:09.022)
Same concept though.
Y-not? (05:17.672)
I don't
Dave CDWA (05:29.488)
Not great.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (05:31.694)
How was it? Did it go very long or no? I don't even remember this.
Dave CDWA (05:34.904)
No, one season, then they couldn't find a network and then it died in 2022. I think it aired in 2020 and they spent a year trying to find someone to pick it up. No one would because it was cheeks and now it's gone. Thankfully.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (05:39.169)
Okay.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (05:46.168)
Got you.
Y-not? (05:47.826)
I mean, with the exception of, no, I was gonna say that's a BKV thing is you get one season.
Dave CDWA (05:56.666)
Is it?
Y-not? (05:57.864)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (05:59.45)
How so?
Y-not? (06:00.786)
What paper girls was the same way? Just one. And it was not. I wasn't into it. I love this. I love the book, so.
Dave CDWA (06:02.982)
You only had one season?
Dave CDWA (06:10.874)
Yeah, DMZ was the same way. Not Brian K. Vaughn. Brian Wood, but...
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (06:14.702)
It's like it's kind of like a Robert Kirkman thing is the only thing that gets more than one season walking dead invincible. Like he's the only guy who can pull it off apparently. I don't know.
Y-not? (06:16.745)
Yeah.
That's what I was going to say. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (06:19.524)
Look.
Dave CDWA (06:24.322)
If you're a comic writer named Brian, just be careful what you do on TV. You got one season maybe.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (06:27.576)
Don't do it. Exactly.
Y-not? (06:28.724)
Yeah.
Can't wait for that one season of Saga.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (06:34.658)
Guys, that'll be great.
Dave CDWA (06:35.398)
Don't say that. Asaga is allegedly getting the invincible treatment from Amazon. So I have higher hopes for that. It's supposed to be animated. I believe it's the same production team. Doesn't have to be. You have enough money. You pull it off.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (06:41.57)
That would be the best.
Y-not? (06:42.587)
Interesting.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (06:45.826)
That would be the best for the best.
Y-not? (06:47.508)
It kind of has to be.
Y-not? (06:53.914)
I just can't imagine them doing it doing it right live action. Maybe maybe
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (06:55.746)
That translating to live action.
Dave CDWA (06:59.456)
Eh, it'd be very, very, very difficult. It'd be live action with a lot of, it'd be like a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, primarily CG.
Y-not? (07:03.047)
Yeah, and expensive.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (07:03.468)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (07:07.331)
Yeah.
Y-not? (07:08.207)
yeah. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (07:11.406)
Anyway, I digress. Let's talk about why the last man, volume one, unmanned. I apologize for the beginning of my recap. I read the first, probably issue and a half at night. I was very, very sleepy. I missed some things. That's just more for you to discover.
Y-not? (07:12.327)
Anyway.
Dave CDWA (07:32.068)
So in issue one, we're introduced to quite a few main characters. There's some lightly intersecting narratives, a clever little countdown to the moment where every male on earth gets sick and dies. I don't just mean every human being, animals, all the males, gone, dead. See you later. Just drops dead in horrible fashion. Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (07:58.926)
Corbel Fest.
Y-not? (07:59.027)
yeah. Blood coming out of every hole. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (08:02.202)
Looks painful. Yeah. All the holes just dripping with blood. our protagonist, whose name is York somehow survives. his monkey ampersand also survives. I do refer to him as his pet monkey. He's really not really a pet. He's like training ampersand to be a helper monkey, but it's not going well. Ampersand is kind of a mess. York also wants to be an escape artist. That's relevant, but not right now. he also.
has a random phone conversation with his girlfriend who's in Australia. He embarrassingly proposes to her over the phone with a $100 engagement ring. Bad form, but hey, you do what you gotta do, I guess, when you don't have a job and you're trying to be an escape artist. We also learn that York has a sister named Hero, and his mom, who is a congresswoman, lives in Washington, D.C. That's important.
In issue two, we skipped two months ahead. So men have been dead now for two months. We see York, he's in full disguise gear. He's got a cape, his hood is up, he's wearing a gas mask. He's carrying ampersand and a cat carrier. He's on his way to Washington, DC. While he's on his way there, he almost gets hit by a dump truck. And some girl is driving around like...
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (09:17.774)
You
Dave CDWA (09:28.442)
picking up dead men, cleaning out apartments and whatnot, and then selling those bodies to the CDC. She bends down to look in York's crate, not realizing that there's a monkey inside. Ampersand gets out, jumps on York, pulls off his mask, revealing that, well, he's a he. So she cuffs York to the truck. She's telling him her, I guess it's technically an evil plan because she's going to go sell him to somebody. She just wants money and food.
Which I guess you do what you got to do to get by in post-apocalyptic times, but while she's pontificating He escapes his cuffs and is on his way He does make it to the White House he sneaks in surprises his mom in an office and While she's in shock that he is still alive. There's some sort of attack at the front of the White House We don't know who it is yet. We'll find out the next issue in issue 2. There's also an interlude
where we see a woman named Agent 355. She's a part of the Culper Ring, which has been in existence since George Washington was the president. And she has found the Secretary of Agriculture, who is also now the highest ranking government official, and by extension, the President of the United States of America.
It turns out that the siege that is happening at the White House is a group of Republican representatives, widows who want their husbands seats in government. Some shit pops off. One of those women shoots a Secret Service agent that they have taken hostage and immediately is shot by a different Secret Service agent that is with York's mom. As this is going on,
355 and the president show up they're actually in the dump truck that almost hit York The president deescalates that whole thing She kind of just tells everyone to shut the fuck up and like deal with it like we have bigger problems There's also a really funny moment where York is giving a speech About why they shouldn't be doing this and the president is basically like a kid shut up. Like don't you know, this isn't your place There's a theme here with York as I'd like to talk about later
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (11:46.603)
Dead.
Dave CDWA (11:48.614)
The president then decides that York needs to go to Boston to meet with a doctor. Her name is Dr. Leslie Mann. We saw her briefly in issue one. She is a cloning expert. I think you can connect those dots. 355 will escort him there.
The fourth issue also ends in Israel with an Israeli soldier named Alter. We saw her in issue one as well. And she receives a phone call from Washington, DC. We don't know who the caller is, but they say, hey, you should be worried about the fact that there's a man in Washington, DC right now named Yorick. Like that's your biggest concern. So there's some espionage type stuff at play here.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (12:31.214)
you
Dave CDWA (12:39.014)
Two more issues to go. 355 and York are now making their way out of DC. York, easily distracted, hears singing coming from the Washington Monument, and of course has to make his way over there to see what is going on. We also see that the Washington Monument has been turned into a shrine to honor all the dead men. So York plops down next to some woman. They start talking because that woman also is wearing a gas mask.
they talk about a bunch of dead musicians, how like they, they're just not realizing like, my God, like all these musicians that I loved are just gone. Like they just died. That's it. We should, we need to take up the mantle here. Like get a guitar, start making some music. York also learns about a group of women called the Amazons. they're an extremist group. They think that the earth cleansed itself of men. and now they continue to be.
Like kind of awful people. They've also all removed their left breast so they can shoot a bow and arrow better, which is allegedly like the way that the real Amazons did it or something. I don't, I can't, I don't know if that's real. I believe BKV did his research, but I don't know. the Amazons show up here at the Washington monument. They deface it. York unmasks, docs a bunch of shit. they start to beat him up and then 355 steps in to save him.
she's in the course of yelling at him for doing this, saying how responsible it is. And he was like, Hey, I just did that. So we could get their motorcycles. So we don't have to walk all the way to Boston. Whether or not he actually had that much foresight remains to be seen. we'll learn more about York as we go, but pretty good idea. If that was true. One of the Amazons overhears that conversation. So she goes back to the group of Amazons that she's from tells their leader, what she heard, what she saw.
and now they are going to send out a search party to find this man and finish the job. They needed someone that knew Boston very well to go and search and someone volunteers and it is York's sister hero.
Dave CDWA (14:53.382)
In the final issue of volume one, we see York and 355, making it to Dr. Mann's No sooner do they arrive than Ampersand escapes and runs out outside and down the road. So they go after him. Almost as soon as they leave, Alter and another Israeli shoulder soldier show up, see that they're recently there, and then just burn the entire lab down.
Hero and the Amazons are also on their trail Finding one of the stolen bikes that they gave to a girl on the way there They get the info that they need and then the leader of the Amazons instructs hero to kill the girl what she reluctantly does Why 355 and dr. Mann get back to the burning lab 355 immediately says look this was intentional I can tell with all of dr. Mann's research gone they have
two options available to them. Either go back to DC and defeat, or they go to a secondary site where Dr. Mann had duplicates of all of her research and information in California. And that is how we end volume one of Why the Last Man.
Y-not? (16:07.536)
Or Australia. That idea came up too.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (16:10.146)
That's
Dave CDWA (16:10.736)
That's not real. They're not really going to Australia. York spends this whole fucking trade trying to get to Australia. No one's taking him to Australia to get laid.
Y-not? (16:21.31)
But I mean, he did suggest it twice.
Dave CDWA (16:24.87)
More than twice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's a little hyper focused
Y-not? (16:26.576)
I just mean in that last conversation. Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (16:26.956)
Yeah.
Y-not? (16:34.835)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (16:36.208)
someone start talking about something good. I'm gonna take a drink.
Y-not? (16:39.474)
You want something good? I'll tell you something good. I think the pacing of this book was really brisk. It moves along quickly, a very BKV book. So that that was really fun. It's reading Brian K. Vaughn stuff always feels sort of akin to watching a movie or TV show just because of the way it just guides you through. I liked that. I liked that.
After the very first trade, there are multiple already interesting story threads. I've got questions I'm supposed to be asking, and I'm legitimately curious to find out what the answers are. We left off on several cliffhangers, which is fun. I think it can be really easy for this type of thing to be confusing, but I really liked the way the different characters and storylines were woven together and bounced back and forth all the way up to that convergence on that now point.
And then from there, I thought that was really cool. And yeah, it's, it was fun.
Dave CDWA (17:36.71)
Yeah, I wrote that down too. It's such a quick and easy way to hook you with one issue. This is not a series where you need to read two, three, four issues to get a feel for what's going on and get hooked. Issue one, if you're not in at issue one, you're not in.
Y-not? (17:55.89)
Yeah, no, I mean, I think they did a really nice job of pulling you in. The other thing that I liked was that we had a little bit of a Wizard of Oz thing going on with, you know, Dorothy is in an unfamiliar land collecting her travel party and figuring out where to go next. I liked that.
Dave CDWA (18:08.878)
Yeah.
Y-not? (18:14.024)
Yeah. So those are mine.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (18:17.198)
I will just say thank you. Thank you to all of you for voting this. Thank you, Brian K. Vaughn for writing it. What's the artist's name?
Y-not? (18:25.597)
Yeah.
Y-not? (18:30.164)
Pia Guerra.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (18:31.8)
Pia Guer, thank you for penning this art. This is...
Dave CDWA (18:34.554)
There's no way we're saying that right. There's no way.
Y-not? (18:36.72)
It's well it's not guerrera. It's like GUERRA I believe is the last name. You can look it up. Gira.
Dave CDWA (18:43.93)
I
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (18:44.066)
Thank you everyone who had a, yeah, just, just, just, I'm in a very thankful mood because after reading the boys, this, I mean, this is like the greatest comic book of all time in my opinion. I'm only a trade in. Like I really enjoyed this. Like you said, Eric, I, I'm normally not someone who can read a lot at one time, but this moved very briskly. And like I, cause I honestly, if I had the time and wasn't distracted, probably could have read this entire trade in one sitting.
Like that's how into it I was for sure. Like, and also I don't know if it's like BKV style, but like I normally get confused by like interwoven storylines. And that really wasn't the case here. Like I knew what was going on. And I feel like it's the same thing with saga. Like there's multiple storylines going on in saga. And like, I was never confused what was going on. So I just, I don't know if it's his writing style and like,
looking like when I was, you know, opening up the pages, looking at the pages or whatever, like there's a lot of dialogue there, but it's like enjoyable dialogue. And like, I don't know, obviously I didn't feel that way about the boys cause like I couldn't understand half of it or I skipped half of it. Cause it was in like a weird dialect. I didn't even understand, but like the, some of these, like some of these pages were very, you know, verbose with writing, but like it was all
Y-not? (20:01.357)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (20:10.818)
good and it really hooked you and you learned about the characters. like that was that was awesome. Like I really liked that. I think that like like you said, issue number one, even that was a little bit of a payoff. You were introduced to all these different characters, but like there was a payoff issue one. I feel like with some stories and some comic stories, there's like these long interwoven storylines like the boys, like it literally took us like almost the entire series to get some payoffs.
We got a couple of payoffs here. We definitely got more questions than probably answers, but I feel like that's what gets you to keep coming back and coming back for more. So, I like that this book also is probably gonna, I mean, I haven't read it, but I'm assuming it's gonna tackle or keep tackling some issues like the patriarchy. talk about that, like the Amazons talk about like down with the patriarchy and like.
Definitely like feminism, feminist issues, 355, like talking to Yorick about like, hey man, I don't know if I'm like, it's okay if you go to Boston, but people like me don't still like, it might be a little weird going to Boston, like talking about some of the racism there and the South end of Boston. like, we're talking about issues, but not like the boys talking about issues either. So sorry to keep shitting on the boys, but that's just, it is what I'm coming off of.
Dave CDWA (21:34.778)
Yeah, you really like gave it to him.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (21:37.678)
I'm gonna, yeah, I'm gonna give it to him. know, the art was shitty too in the boys side, know. Fuck there, Roberton, you know that. Yeah, so, yeah. I'm just piling on now. And then I also liked the gender side. I thought that was just cool. I didn't know that we were doing a countdown until the second thing. And I was like, oh no, something really bad is gonna happen at the end of this issue. then sure enough, it gets more rapid as we go. And then I'm like, oh no, here we go.
Y-not? (21:38.761)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (21:41.67)
Come on, Whoa, hey, I'm editing that out. I'm not going to.
Y-not? (21:43.732)
You
You
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (22:07.564)
It hooked me. I read that last text page. It had me really thinking like, what if half the men, what if half the female population, what, know, like it would really throw everything up in the air. it just that those, I don't know if you've seen like those image first that like, or a dollar that would be something like if I picked one of those up and actually read it, I'm like, I gotta go. I gotta read this story. Like I'm hooked. So they get you like issue one. So yeah.
Dave CDWA (22:35.67)
I love how relatable York is in a lot of ways. For me, this is just for me personally. I view myself as someone with a strong moral compass. I have a clear understanding of right and wrong. And 99 times out of 100, I do everything that I can to make sure that I'm doing what's And...
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (22:44.642)
Really?
Dave CDWA (23:03.066)
to find out that you are the last man alive on earth and not spend your days trying to fuck your way through America, that's impressive. This man has a very strong moral compass and that makes him, for me, extremely relatable.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (23:09.902)
Hehehehehe
Dave CDWA (23:22.854)
Like dude's just trying to, he's just trying to get back to his girl. That's it. He wants to, he wants to repopulate the earth, but he only wants to do it with his fiance. He thinks she sort of said, yes, maybe I'm not sure the call cut off.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (23:31.374)
You
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (23:35.948)
Yeah, this is gonna turn up really bad. I just have a feeling about it.
Y-not? (23:39.336)
He's he's got a certain level of like, naivety to him that is is charming. And I look at him and I think he's kind of like a lovable idiot in a way because he's putting himself out there at times that it's like, hey, know your place. Don't do what you're doing, you know, but usually for the purpose of doing what he thinks is right. But I think my guess is that's all intentional. We are going to see the growth and change of that character throughout.
Dave CDWA (23:43.652)
Yeah, he does.
Y-not? (24:09.012)
this book, I think it's laid on really heavy in this first trade. You like you can't miss that aspect. And I wonder if it's to show growth of that character or to make a different point. But interesting.
Dave CDWA (24:21.826)
find out. But yeah, my number one is that he's instantly relatable if you're not a piece of shit.
Y-not? (24:30.708)
Matt, you didn't relate. What's that say about you?
Dave CDWA (24:32.004)
Sorry. I think we know what Matt would do if all the men died tomorrow except him.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (24:34.656)
I mean... well...
Y-not? (24:42.664)
I would fucking hide.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (24:42.68)
I'm not gonna say what I was gonna say. He'd stay in the bunker and be like, I'm good.
Dave CDWA (24:44.366)
You died?
Y-not? (24:47.251)
Yeah, I would.
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (24:51.718)
It is convenient that they do have an expert on human cloning available to them that is well known and like not not viewed as some sort of Frankenstein type of villain. It is written in the 90s, wasn't it?
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (25:01.718)
Like Whackadoo? Yeah. Yeah.
Y-not? (25:06.644)
Now, 2002 it started, I think.
Close to the 90s.
Dave CDWA (25:13.498)
Yeah. I do think that Dr. Mann is also a pretty wonderful character to have as a
Dave CDWA (25:26.982)
She's not a liability, but you find her in a place where she is pretty low and pretty unwilling to go back to doing any kind of cloning work because of how horribly it went when she tried. And she did try to impregnate herself with a clone of herself to help her brothers.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (25:55.062)
Yeah, I enough. Yep, yep, yep, you're right. You're right.
Dave CDWA (25:55.106)
Son, which would have been her nephew. Is that right? Am I remembering that correctly? That's a pretty That's a pretty traumatic experience as she retells it so you have this you have this very flawed potentially unstable But really interesting character that also seemingly right now Is the best shot at saving the human race?
Y-not? (25:58.525)
Yeah?
Dave CDWA (26:23.406)
And now Agent 355 is on the worst escort mission in video game history. She's got...
Y-not? (26:27.41)
Yeah, I think, I mean, making the doctor that holds the keys to repopulating the earth with men being named Dr. Man is pretty funny.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (26:27.916)
Yes she is.
Dave CDWA (26:39.812)
Yeah, yeah, there's some stuff that's on the nose here. Yeah, that's okay, though. I like that. The thing is, I have, I don't know if I've mentioned this on the podcast before, but I have read this before, but I read it 11 years ago, so I don't remember everything. So I'm excited to reread this because a lot of this stuff I don't remember whatsoever. But because I've read this before and Saga is my favorite,
Y-not? (26:42.078)
Yeah.
Y-not? (27:02.42)
That's cool.
Dave CDWA (27:09.126)
currently published comic has been for quite some time since well since invincible ended so whenever invincible number 144 came out from that day forward Sago is my favorite currently published comic so BKV has so much good karma in my bank I am inclined to like his work and would more than likely give something a chance even more than I would you know another another writer
or a first time try because I just believe that this guy writes really good stuff.
Point being, I'm horrifically biased.
Y-not? (27:46.862)
Perfect. mean, I am too.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (27:49.294)
Doesn't sound like you're the right thing 99 % of the time, Dave. I don't No. Okay. Alright.
Dave CDWA (27:53.616)
This is my 1%. My 1%. I'm carrying a heavy, unfavorable bias when it comes to being subjective about Brian Cavelin.
Y-not? (28:00.808)
I mean, supporting somebody that hasn't let you down, that's not, I mean, I don't think that counts as the 1%.
Dave CDWA (28:09.998)
Okay, well, I mean, Matt put me on the spot. I felt like I needed to say something.
Y-not? (28:14.002)
Matt, being such a son of a bitch. don't know. Seriously.
Dave CDWA (28:16.87)
hahahahah
Dave CDWA (28:22.918)
Should we move on to the bad?
Do want to? we have more good to talk about?
Dave CDWA (28:32.838)
I don't have anything else written down. Okay, go on the bad then. Let's go to bad. Unless you have more good, I don't know. You tell me.
Y-not? (28:34.674)
Me neither.
Y-not? (28:38.062)
you want that? Most of them. No, most of my bad aren't bad, bad. They're sort of like, here's something that I'm curious to see where it goes from here. For instance, this is a book written by a man about a world with no men. And we've got a lot of women in this book, facing really serious emotional and situational dilemmas, right?
And I felt like at times they reacted through the lens of how a man thinks they would react. And I'm curious about how that feels and shapes going forward. I trust Brian Cave on to get it right. But I think it's there were a few moments where I read something and I went, boy, that that really screams a man's perspective of how a woman should or might think or act.
So that that was I don't know if that counts as bad bad but there are a few 2000s era like ableist and transphobic terms that aren't super acceptable now. But compared to the boys, this thing was chill. So I mean, I think it's oddly convenient that York is an experienced escape artist and knows how to pick locks and whatnot. That's definitely going to come in handy a lot already has a few times. But okay.
Dave CDWA (29:40.358)
That's fair.
Uh huh. Uh huh.
Dave CDWA (29:49.51)
Yeah. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (30:03.403)
That's not bad. What's bad about that? Yeah, I like
Y-not? (30:04.53)
That's so the story can happen, I guess. I don't know. It didn't feel like a meaningful thing. was just like, this guy knows that stuff. So.
Dave CDWA (30:10.896)
Okay.
Dave CDWA (30:14.79)
I don't know, man. feel like that's, I don't think it's convenient. I mean, that's how we created the character. He decided that was intentional.
Y-not? (30:22.344)
I guess, I guess. I feel like it could have been written in such a way that that felt meaningful to his character is just kind of like, this guy, that's what he does. And I guess that's how any character could be. But
Dave CDWA (30:33.764)
Yeah. I mean, in that first issue, does to me feel that BKV intentionally set him up to be a little aloof and maybe rudderless in life. So it was easier for me to just accept that this dude wants to be an escape artist because why not?
Y-not? (30:55.784)
I could buy that. I mean, I guess we don't like need that. Dick Grayson came from a family of trapeze artists or something that explains why he knows how to do what he knows how to do. Like, I don't know. This one is more of a maybe potential prediction, but they say multiple times any organism with a Y chromosome died, but not all male creatures or even humans are XY. There are
Dave CDWA (31:03.338)
Hehehehehe
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (31:04.12)
Hehehehehe
Dave CDWA (31:13.35)
Okay.
Y-not? (31:25.86)
XX males as well. Actually, one in 20,000 men has two X chromosomes and no Y chromosomes. This is called Dela-Chapelle syndrome. And most of them present as normal men, but it seems like they are generally infertile. So what I'm saying is, if there are 4 million men on the planet, or 4 billion, I'm sorry,
Dave CDWA (31:28.198)
Mm-hmm.
Y-not? (31:50.44)
there would be about 200,000 men. There wouldn't be one last man. And I wonder if they're going to figure out that it isn't every creature with a Y chromosome that died. And it isn't something that's seeking out men, but maybe does have something to do with a magical ring or amulet. I don't know. I'm curious.
Dave CDWA (32:08.614)
Interesting, Yeah, very interesting.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (32:10.882)
Stats. Stats. Science. Stem. Stem.
Y-not? (32:14.46)
I just, got curious. I wanted to look stuff up and figure it out. Yeah. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (32:18.982)
I'm glad Matt spoke first because I was just gonna say thanks nerd
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (32:23.79)
I'm giving them intellectual props. Stam, baby. I love it.
Y-not? (32:24.189)
No.
Dave CDWA (32:27.11)
That's the difference between Matt and I. He's positive and I'm going to make fun of you.
Y-not? (32:33.416)
Yeah, go for it. And the book just made me think made me want to do research understand stuff.
Dave CDWA (32:39.044)
Yeah, no, that's cool. I like that. I like that. None of those felt bad. You're right. None of those. I don't think any of those are actually bad. Well, no, some of it was bad. The ableism was bad. And the transphobic stuff was bad. That's bad, too. I have that stuff written down, too. Actually, it was really... How many times did he use the word tranny?
Y-not? (32:46.066)
Not bad. Yeah, that's not good.
Y-not? (33:03.42)
more than once and they used other sort of language that was in line with that as well.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (33:03.585)
You
Dave CDWA (33:06.49)
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, very weird. Now I will say you're right. You mentioned this earlier. Like it's it's a product of its decade. This stuff was
Y-not? (33:29.406)
Dave got silent after it's a product of its decade.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (33:31.384)
Sorry.
It's alright.
Y-not? (33:35.23)
still silent.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (33:37.614)
I, uh, was I gonna say? Um, oh he's back now I think.
Maybe not.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (33:55.118)
All right, well, we can keep going. I can keep going. The one thing, and this isn't like a bad thing, I think it's just because I don't know these characters that well yet, is the art wasn't bad by any means, but I was just confused on some of the scenes of, like especially in, I think issue two, when they were having the, maybe two or three, when they were having the confrontation outside of the White House.
Like I, a lot of the characters look similar. So like it was a lot of white women in suits with blonde hair. like, yeah, it was like Vought man, like all over the place. So, you know, if you're not three 55 and the black chick or, know, the Israeli, it was just like a lot of blonde women in business suits in that scene. And I was just like, who is talking? Who is the president? He was your ex mom. I was very confused, but, uh, yeah, I,
Y-not? (34:28.252)
lot of white women in suits kind of like Vought guy.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (34:53.942)
I will try to be more critical in future volumes, but I was like, I was like super into this. I don't know. I was really, really into it. So yeah, it was a good, a really good setup. Like really hooked me in. Like I'm telling you like that, the whole like first issue, like it really got me like thinking clearly not to the level of Eric. I didn't get any statistics or anything to that level, but I was definitely.
Dave CDWA (35:01.19)
So was I. I don't, there's not a lot of bad. There just isn't. This is a great first.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (35:22.048)
I definitely thinking whether I normally would.
Dave CDWA (35:31.05)
I I will this isn't bad, but I will say that I'm very thankful for the maturing that Brian Kayvon has done between why the last man and saga I actually I went and looked he was I think 26 When he was writing why the last man He's he's 48 right now you so in 2002 years 26 in 2002
Y-not? (35:50.388)
Peace.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (35:55.543)
yeah, I mean...
Dave CDWA (36:00.472)
So, you know, you're a different person and it was a different time and you can see if you you if you are a reader of saga, you can go back to why the last man and I'll tell you as we go through this comic, you will see things in why the last man that he does so much better now in saga. And it's it's so fun to see one that he's
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (36:12.12)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (36:30.32)
didn't realize he's been around for that long. I don't know why, but like he's been cranking out really good comics for a really long time. But man, the way that he handles things like anyone that is trans, the absolute range of sexualities, the way that you treat someone that is just different than you, he does that so beautifully in Saga.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (36:33.198)
so sorry.
Dave CDWA (37:00.902)
Man, it's just so cool to see. just that that growth is just from an objective third party is just really impressive to see. I just love that.
Y-not? (37:10.836)
I mean, by its nature, Why the Last Man is a very gender binary book. And when you get to saga, absolutely not the case. It definitely encapsulates the broader range of sexuality and gender in pretty interesting ways.
Dave CDWA (37:14.884)
Yeah. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (37:30.352)
Yep. By the way, I did look up Pia Guerra. That's how you say it. I assumed that this was a similar to Hispanic man. It is definitely a white woman who lives in New Jersey. I had no idea, so that's on me.
Y-not? (37:51.304)
Yeah, I looked I looked I looked her up because I wanted to look at more of her art and stuff. So yeah.
Dave CDWA (37:54.66)
Yeah, interesting that she's listed as an American born Canadian.
Y-not? (38:03.772)
I mean, I guess if she moved to Canada and got her citizenship, that makes sense. Well, well, maybe she just says, a and a boot and stuff.
Dave CDWA (38:07.384)
Yeah, but she lives in New Jersey, so I don't know.
Dave CDWA (38:15.108)
Yeah, maybe. Maybe.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (38:15.596)
You
Y-not? (38:17.564)
loves to loves to eat poutine I don't know
Dave CDWA (38:20.152)
Maybe her bottom jaw totally disconnects when she talks and floats in the air. I don't know.
Y-not? (38:23.316)
She says stuff like, hey guy, hey buddy. Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (38:24.756)
Jesus.
Dave CDWA (38:26.982)
It farts on people a lot.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (38:31.8)
Apparently BKV knows how to pick an artist. I can tell you that. Like, look what he's doing.
Dave CDWA (38:34.49)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, so should we talk questions?
Y-not? (38:35.475)
Yeah.
Y-not? (38:41.801)
Yeah?
Yeah, you want me to start with some questions? I have a bunch. Okay. All right. So so some of the questions I have number one. I'm curious to know where they're gonna head. Obviously, they're not going to go to Australia, but they could go to DC. They could go try to Well, they might. I mean, it's a possibility.
Dave CDWA (38:45.338)
Well, yeah, because I, yeah, I don't have a lot. Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (38:46.348)
Yeah, you, this was your category.
Dave CDWA (39:00.134)
They could go to Australia. got, there's, there's gotta be women that ought to fly planes.
Y-not? (39:07.828)
Well, I'm just I mean, I'm just saying it didn't seem like a realistic option. It just seemed like you're going, hey, we should go there because I want to go see my fiance, right? Or are they going to go to LA? So we'll see what happens there. I'm curious to know. Obviously, she was about to his girlfriend was about to tell him something and he was like, don't tell me let me propose instead. And then they got cut off. If he ever does get there, he's in for disappointment, I assume.
Dave CDWA (39:10.726)
Hmm.
Dave CDWA (39:18.672)
Yeah, fair.
Y-not? (39:37.382)
So I'm curious to know what that conversation was.
Dave CDWA (39:40.022)
She did say not to come, didn't she? Yeah.
Y-not? (39:42.728)
She did. She did. So is supermodel trash collector a kink? Because there was something going on in that whole thing that I was like, I don't know. I don't know. Is, you know, one breasted militant feminist on motorcycles a kink? I don't know. Also, I think that unless you're left handed, I would think you'd probably want to remove your right breast maybe I don't know.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (39:51.086)
You
Dave CDWA (39:51.342)
You tell me, man.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (40:06.242)
That's, yeah.
Dave CDWA (40:10.502)
Well, no, because the way you would hold the way you hold the bone area. Yeah, when you pull it back, your yeah, your left breast would be the one that's in the way. If you're left handed, you'd remove the right.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (40:11.712)
No, because you pull... Yeah. You don't want your boob hitting the... Yeah.
Y-not? (40:18.228)
I was thinking, yeah, I guess you're right. Yep. No, that makes sense. Yeah, that's cool. There was something weird going on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah. The whole doctor man and they sort of glossed over the giving birth to her own nephew thing. And I was like, ooh, is incestual insinuation a kink? That definitely is.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (40:21.955)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (40:25.525)
We said that was such authority. I don't know what you like.
Dave CDWA (40:41.67)
Are we kink or fetish?
Y-not? (40:45.458)
No, no, it could be either. There's less of fetish, more kink.
Dave CDWA (40:47.3)
Okay. They feel more like fetishes to me, because a kink means you can't get off unless you have that.
Y-not? (40:55.336)
Maybe. I don't know. If you've seen the internet, I think there's people.
Dave CDWA (40:58.704)
What the fuck is the internet?
Y-not? (41:02.812)
you know, you know, here's here's a real real real question. There are multiple instances where somebody brings up a notable person and your it goes, did you know they have a brother? He's talking about? Did you know Elvis has a brother? Did you know that Houdini has a brother and I'm like, are you telegraphing a revelation? Does your cabinet brother a twin brother? Does somebody have a notable twin brother? I'm wondering if there's something going on.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (41:21.902)
Mmm.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (41:30.254)
Thank you.
Dave CDWA (41:33.368)
And BKV's got you looking for clues everywhere.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (41:36.162)
This guy is a scholar, I'm telling you, he's a scholar.
Y-not? (41:38.45)
I mean, I don't know. I don't know if I'm looking for clues, but that stood out to me. I'm like, why does he keep bringing up the brothers of notable people? So I wonder if we'll find something out. It's a question. Did you have any questions?
Dave CDWA (41:47.204)
Yeah, okay.
I will say in, in that, in that exact exchange, there's no place for this in the conversations. I'm just going to say it here. We got Tom weights reference. You don't see that often. Big Tom weights guy. It's nice to know that BKV is also a big Tom weights guy. It's very cool.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (42:01.218)
It was a Tom, it was a big Tom Waits reference.
Y-not? (42:01.713)
yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw that and I thought of you. Yeah.
Yeah, interesting mention in the list of, know, pretty famous, you know, they're like, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and then Tom Waits. And I was like, Wow, okay.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (42:16.408)
some weights.
Dave CDWA (42:18.522)
Yeah. One of the questions that I have is not necessarily where we're going, but out of all the countries in the world, why Israel? Is there something, is there like a religious overtone coming? Was it just random? Like we just chose Israel because they're kind of known for having a pretty
like badass military.
Y-not? (42:49.96)
Yeah, I wonder. And I wonder if does it have something to do with their attitudes toward women in the military there. The only connection that we have is that amulet that they said if it ever leaves, something bad will happen, but they could have chosen literally anywhere for that to be. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (42:55.654)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (43:00.218)
Right.
Yeah, yeah, I do think it probably is just because of yes women in the military and that military being pretty highly trained and Yeah, will say kind of weird having that given current events Like obviously no tie whatsoever, this is a 23 year old comic but you know the just the randomness of it
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (43:20.46)
Yeah, that's...
Y-not? (43:21.117)
Yeah.
Y-not? (43:30.024)
There was more than one thing that felt still oddly relevant in the modern era. It did not feel as dated by any means as reading something like The Boys.
Dave CDWA (43:40.005)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (43:40.334)
Not to get political, but people storming the Capitol. No, but like, yeah, I was, I really want to know more about this Altru character. Like, I don't know why I was just like, that chick is badass. I want to know more about her. Hopefully she doesn't end up being a complete villain, but we'll see. I don't know. Dave probably knows, but that's okay.
Dave CDWA (43:43.162)
Yeah, yeah, uh-huh.
Y-not? (43:54.366)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (44:00.24)
We will, I don't remember that. I really don't, I really don't. There's a few things, there's like, I have like flashes of like some panels that were memorable, but don't remember. I remember the ending vaguely, but how we get there is a mystery still to me.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (44:09.102)
Yeah, the big moments.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (44:14.018)
That's good. Yeah.
Y-not? (44:22.42)
It's a good place to reread. Like if it's been just long enough that you're like, I remember liking it, but I don't remember the details. Like that's the right, right timing.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (44:22.584)
Let's go.
Dave CDWA (44:28.378)
Yeah. Yeah. have to, I have to do the same thing with DMZ because it's, I'm at the same spot with DMZ and I read these two are in the same time. So I need to do a DMZ read too.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (44:37.176)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (44:40.79)
It was on the list. It was on our short list.
Dave CDWA (44:41.754)
Yeah, it was. was. Matt, any questions?
Y-not? (44:44.05)
next year.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (44:48.672)
No, just honestly, I wanted to know more about Alter. I based on first issue, I thought she's going to be a pretty prominent character in this trade and kind of wasn't until she kind of gets the call. I want to know who the mole is who like tipped her off to come. like as Alter even states, like that's a bunch of resources for us to come from Israel to America. So like, this is a big thing, like what happened. then obviously just like,
Eric said like in the beginning like where where is this going to go? Where are we going to go? It's that's really interesting that you said the Wizard of Oz like that's my dad's favorite movie like believe it or not. I'm like I've seen that movie a million times but I did not even catch that reference. So that was really interesting when you like oh it's like the Wizard of Oz like it kind of is.
Y-not? (45:35.026)
I mean, he's even got a Toto with him.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (45:37.686)
Yeah, he does. So Toto jumps out of the basket. Ampersand jumps out the window. And it was like the last time it took me three hours to find him. It's like four hours later. Like that was pretty funny. So six hours later, something like that. Yes. Yeah. But no, I'm good. I'm very satisfied.
Dave CDWA (45:38.052)
Yeah.
Y-not? (45:42.824)
Yeah. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (45:48.614)
It was six hours later. Yeah, it took even longer to find him.
Dave CDWA (45:56.794)
Yeah, me too. Off to a great start. So if you're in our Discord and you read Why the Last Man, if you have an episode discussion channel, let's talk about volume one, Why the Last Man Unmanned. What'd you think? If you didn't read it yet, hurry up. Come on. Talk about it with us. So, yeah, you can. You can. Yeah, it's a quick read.
Y-not? (45:58.05)
yeah, same.
Y-not? (46:18.642)
Yeah, it's you can read it. You can read it in one sitting. Sit down and read it. Yeah.
Dave CDWA (46:24.371)
And if you need access to reading it, we can help. Just let us know.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (46:30.984)
awesome. This way.
Dave CDWA (46:32.966)
There's ways there are ways. Pretty sure. I actually, I'm pretty sure Robbie in the discord said that he, he has it if anyone needs it too.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (46:43.775)
awesome.
Y-not? (46:43.784)
Also shout out your local public library. There is an app called hoopla that you can download and just sign up for a library card. Guess what? You can read this on there for free. So
Dave CDWA (46:46.811)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (46:48.205)
OOP was great.
Dave CDWA (46:52.379)
Yep.
Dave CDWA (46:55.984)
Yeah, very cool. Very cool. Okay. Well, more to come on why the last man will be back in two weeks. Not with more why the last man. we'll be back with some teenage mutant Ninja turtles.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (47:07.662)
Aww.
Dave CDWA (47:14.872)
Matt looks surprised like we didn't record an episode about the TMNT seven days ago.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (47:22.678)
I thought we're gonna re-watch number three and jump to, oops, go three. We have to now. I saw a clip of it online the other day. was like, how the hell did I watch this movie?
Dave CDWA (47:27.79)
I'm never watching 3 again. No I don't. Me too.
Y-not? (47:31.41)
I remember seeing it in the theater.
Dave CDWA (47:37.2)
Dude, it's so bad. It's so bad.
Y-not? (47:40.852)
The Turtles in Time video game is better than the Turtles in Time movie.
Dave CDWA (47:44.058)
Yes. Fun fact, that movie is not called Turtles in Time. No, everyone thinks that it is, it's not. It's just called Turtles 3. Yeah, no tagline. I know, yeah, it's Mandela Effect. It's not called Turtles in Time.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (47:44.448)
much, much better. Not even, yeah.
Y-not? (47:50.749)
Is it not?
What's it called? Three? Really?
I'm not doubting you. I just need to look at the poster because in my brain I'm going, see it.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (48:02.157)
Look it up.
Dave CDWA (48:02.586)
Yeah, no, do it. I used to think it was too. It's not there.
He's looking right now, everybody. Yeah. Yeah, I know.
Y-not? (48:10.888)
I am I'm looking right now. Holy shit. You're right. I wonder if in the trailers, they said something. wait. I, I see. There's like a poster from looks like the UK that does say turtles in time on it, but not the US ones weird.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (48:18.444)
The turtles are back in time. That's what it says on the movie poster.
Dave CDWA (48:30.212)
Yeah. And the movie is still called turtles three. It's not called turtles in time, even if it's on the poster. It's not the name of the movie.
Y-not? (48:33.043)
hurdles are back in time. Wow.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (48:36.792)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, subtitled Turtles in Time in the PAL region. I don't
Y-not? (48:41.908)
in the pal. Okay. I didn't live there. So yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Huh. What? Okay. What's your Who's your favorite turtle? We don't have to draw this out. But I just need to know who your favorite is.
Dave CDWA (48:43.216)
That's yeah, that's yeah. Pal pal is Europe. Yeah, pal is Europe.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (48:45.09)
So that's not, you have no excuse, but I'm just, I'm trying to get, is that Europe? Okay, yeah, so.
Dave CDWA (48:51.375)
Meh.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (48:51.767)
Not
Dave CDWA (48:57.094)
For me, would either be Raphael or Michelangelo. I can't pick one.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (49:02.359)
I'm a Donatello guy.
Y-not? (49:05.31)
For me, it depends on the medium, whether it's, you I think overall I'd have to say probably Raphael. Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (49:07.202)
Yes, yeah.
Dave CDWA (49:07.226)
Yeah.
Dave CDWA (49:12.282)
Yeah, I do have a Raphael tattoo.
Y-not? (49:17.306)
you do, don't you? You have a sigh, right?
Dave CDWA (49:18.382)
Yeah, I have a sigh with a slice of pizza on it.
Y-not? (49:22.056)
Yeah, that's cool.
Dave CDWA (49:24.877)
Yeah, big fan of that.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (49:26.764)
All this because I had a dumbfounded look on my face.
Dave CDWA (49:29.338)
Yep. Yeah, look what you caused. That's okay. It's okay. We're just padding the runtime. Okay, I'm sure no one's even gonna make it this far. That's fine. Anyway, we'll be back in two weeks with some turtles. We'll be back in probably four-ish weeks with volume two of Why the Last Man. We really, really appreciate anyone that sticks around and checks out the podcast. It's a fun time for us. Hopefully it's a fun time for you.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (49:32.94)
I'm sorry. I apologize.
Y-not? (49:37.287)
Yeah.
Matt - BKV Has Saved Us!! (49:42.286)
Damn.
Dave CDWA (49:58.192)
