Kill Me (00:02.025)
Welcome back to the Comic Dudes, a podcast about comic books and comic book related things. As always with me, our co -host Matt. Matt, how are you?

Matt - CDWA (00:13.71)
I'm good man, we're back in the saddle. I feel like it's been a bit, so happy to be back.

Kill Me (00:17.417)
We are, we are. Also with us, it's a boys episode, so we have our third boy with us, our Sometimes Here co -host, Eric. Eric, how you doing?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (00:27.195)
I'm good. Hey, you know what I figured out how to get into my Twitter acts. And I changed my bio. So it says side piece on the comic dudes with attitudes podcast. So yeah, yeah.

Kill Me (00:38.089)
Nice. I love that. I didn't notice that. Well, I'll have to go. I'll have to go check that out. Of course, my name is Dave. You're probably used to hearing my voice if you've listened to us before. Before we get started, and I really think it's important that I put this out early as I had the revelation while I was reading this month's boys volume. Fellas, I have Stockholm syndrome and I think Garth Ennis is my captor.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (00:44.155)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (01:09.595)
do you?

Kill Me (01:11.113)
I feel like I do. We'll talk more about it later. I'm glad that Eric got back into his Twitter because this is a great segue into letting you all know you can follow us on Twitter. All three of us. Our Twitter handles are in the description of this episode. We also post regularly on TikTok and Instagram now. So, oh wait, what the fuck? Something, I have a trying to reconnect error on my screen. Did you guys have that?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (01:37.915)
Yeah, you glitched out and disappeared for a moment there.

Kill Me (01:41.257)
Cool. Cool, cool, cool.

Matt - CDWA (01:44.302)
good now.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (01:45.179)
Yeah, you're good.

Kill Me (01:46.793)
Yeah, but if it cut off what I was saying...

Dr. Fallen Legnog (01:50.523)
It should have recorded on your end still.

Kill Me (01:54.153)
Alright, well, where was I? Well, I'll have to manually cut this part out. I don't know what the last thing I said was.

Matt - CDWA (02:01.326)
You're talking about socials.

Kill Me (02:03.977)
Oh yeah, I'll just say that part over. That's a great segue into talking about our socials. You can follow all three of us on Twitter. Our Twitter handles are in the description of this episode. We also post regularly on TikTok and Instagram now. We're up to like 30 some followers on TikTok. We've grown a little bit since last we talked. So just in time for TikTok to get banned, we're growing. So thank you. Love that for us.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (02:29.467)
Fuck yeah.

Kill Me (02:33.065)
I do want to start doing like some giveaways or something as we get to milestones on our socials. So more to come on that. You got to follow us to be included in those types of things. But I think like a hundred followers on TikTok seems like a milestone. I don't know if it's the milestone, but maybe we'll give something away. I don't know. We'll see. We also have a discord that we don't use. Maybe someday I'll put the link to that in here too. I don't know. We'll see. We'll see if there's a need for that sort of a thing. Um,

Matt - CDWA (02:37.87)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (02:54.203)
Ha ha ha!

Kill Me (03:00.777)
One thing we also do at the beginning of the boys episodes is remind you all that from here on out, there will be spoilers for the boys comic book. There will be unintentional spoilers potentially for the boys TV show. And we're also going to talk about some very despicable things. We're going to talk about fucking as always. We're going to talk lots and lots of racism. I'd say as always, but there's more so than ever in this volume.

Matt - CDWA (03:29.294)
Past two arcs. Past, this one especially, but past two arcs were really ramping up the racism. But we were getting that.

Kill Me (03:31.081)
What's that?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (03:31.291)
This one especially.

Kill Me (03:36.457)
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah. And for the first time ever, we're gonna talk about pedophilia too. So it's super fun. I really like it reading this comic. And if this is your first episode, again, I say this every month, weird place to start if you're starting in the middle. But hey, more power to you. Glad you're here. These episodes, the Let's Read episodes go like this.

Matt - CDWA (03:41.134)
Yeah, this is it.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (03:48.027)
Ha ha ha ha!

Kill Me (04:02.857)
I will recap what we read as quickly as possible, hitting the high notes and leaving some things out. So if you do decide to go and read this for yourself, hopefully we won't spoil everything for you. Then we're gonna talk about it. We'll talk about what we liked, which is the good. We'll talk about what we didn't like, the bad. And then for the boys, it's outrageous things. Usually Matt and I will talk about hot takes, controversial opinions. It's just outrageous things here. And I think this month actually some outrage from me.

Matt - CDWA (04:25.998)
Yeah.

Kill Me (04:32.393)
but also outrageous things. Anyway, let's get into it. By the way, another eight issue trade.

Matt - CDWA (04:39.886)
Yeah, I have a comment about that later.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (04:41.499)
Yeah.

Kill Me (04:42.953)
I said last month they can't all be 8 issues because then it would be a 96 issue comic and I know it only went into the 60s. We gotta get some shorter ones here some point. I don't know when.

Matt - CDWA (04:45.294)
Yes.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (04:52.507)
I kept waiting for this one to end and I'm like, oh, it finally ended. There's still 30 pages left. What is happening right?

Matt - CDWA (04:58.286)
Were there any mini -series though? Cause there's like a Dear Becky or something or a Herogasm mini -like I don't know if... I don't know man.

Kill Me (05:04.553)
Yes, yeah, you're right. There's some one shots and some minis.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (05:08.955)
Yeah, that'll do it.

Matt - CDWA (05:10.35)
That was it. Yeah, but... I don't know. I don't know, man.

Kill Me (05:12.489)
I still don't think it got from like the 60s into the 90s though. 12 volumes, 8 issues per volume, that would be 96.

Matt - CDWA (05:21.966)
Double -sized issues? I don't know, man. Something's going on.

Kill Me (05:25.129)
I don't know. Yeah. Anyway, let's get into it. The title of volume four, we got to go now. It opens with Butcher and the director of the CIA. They are in a diner talking. Director Rainer tells Butcher there's something wrong with a team of Supes called the G -Men. One member, her name is Silver Kincaid, kills herself with her own powers.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (05:25.307)
That's also possible.

Kill Me (05:52.201)
But Vought got there first and cleaned it all up. So she kind of wants Butcher to look into this and see what the hell's going on. So she tells him to follow up, then they go fuck in the bathroom at the diner. We also learn at the end of this issue, or by the end of the issue, the G -Men are the X -Men in the boys universe. And someone has to go undercover to plant bugs and surveillance devices in the G -Mansion. I think that's what they call it. I don't know why I'm calling it.

And of course, Huey draws the short straw because he tends to always do so. So Huey goes to live with a team called G -Wiz, which is the like teenage feeder team for the G -Men. And essentially they live in a frat house. He got a fake set of credentials from the legend, our Stan Lee trope. And he's a superhero named Bagpipe because he's Scottish. So.

He's settling in with G whiz they're having a huge party. It's like a toga party He gets a tour. They have a jerk -off room filled with tons of porn It's exactly what you'd expect from a frat house so far. We also see mother's milk Going to the town in Massachusetts where silver Kincaid killed herself. He's trying to solve that mystery butcher also goes to see the legend and

He checks to make sure that he was going to be OK with those forged papers. He's got some concerns about Huey. G is then prank the seven. They do like a phone prank and then they take a trip to meet good. Dolkin. I think I'm saying that right. I don't know. Godelkin, good. Dolkin. I don't know. Right. Yeah, I'm going to say good. Dolkin and the G men and the main team at the G Mansion. So, yeah, Professor G.

Matt - CDWA (07:32.718)
Godokin! Godokin! Godokin!

Dr. Fallen Legnog (07:32.795)
I'll get, get all good.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (07:41.275)
Professor G. Yeah.

Kill Me (07:43.753)
So he plants some bugs We learned that the g -men are all insufferable assholes like every other soup in this comic book and then one of the g -men That silver Kincaid actually had to kill at some point in the past is still alive and well. She startles Huey Just by showing up behind him in the bathroom. And the only thing she says is kill me We don't know why and we never find out

Meanwhile, MM is no closer to finding Uncle Paul is the person he's trying to find that unraveled this mystery. It's one of the last things that Silver Kincaid said before she killed herself. And then Butcher steals the hard drive of a CIA agent who he's victimized in the past because he's trying to get to the bottom of why the director wants him looking into this in the first place. We also see the leader of Vought who we still I don't think we've been.

They haven't said his name yet out loud until this issue. We know who it is, but he I think he meets with Vic the Veep if I'm remembering my characters correctly, or maybe it's the president. I don't remember, honestly.

Matt - CDWA (08:42.414)
Yeah, okay.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (08:53.883)
There's a lot of white dudes in suits.

Matt - CDWA (08:55.31)
Yeah, it was tough.

Kill Me (08:55.561)
Yeah, yeah, but they decide they want to take out good dolphin and the G men. Meanwhile, bless his heart, he wants to save the G Wiz kids from turning into G men assholes. And he also meets up with Starlight for the afternoon delight in the park. If you don't know what that means, Google it. The other G men teams at this point are arriving at the mansion for a memorial for Silver Kincaid and.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (09:13.019)
You

Kill Me (09:24.905)
Vought sends an inquiry about Bagpipe, AKA Huey. Mother's Milk finds Paul's brother, and he's invited into his home to have a little chat. And then Butcher finds something on that hard drive that shocks him enough that he punches a hole through his computer screen. We're getting close to the end here. Second to last issue, I think, third to last issue. Huey gets out. He's out of G -Wiz.

Butcher tells him to leave. Mother's Milk learns about Silver Kincaid's past, and G -Wiz keeps pissing on each other. Huey goes to Silver Kincaid's memorial, even though Butcher told him he's out. But Huey, again, wants to try to save them from I don't know what. And Godolkin is tipped off by the head of Vought that Bagpipe is not who he says he is, and he tells the G -Wiz kids to kill him.

The boys show up just in time to save Huey. They kill all but one member of G -Wiz whom they want to interrogate. And then at this point, Mother's Milk has figured out the truth, at least most of it. And it's time for some answers. The penultimate issue, the kid they didn't kill, I forget his name, doesn't matter, he ends up dying regardless. Was his name Jamal? Of course it was. Of course it was, yeah, why would we try?

Matt - CDWA (10:47.886)
Jamal. I think it's Jamal. I think so.

Kill Me (10:53.513)
I mean that that character that came back to life that keeps saying kill me. She's black and her name is Nubia. We're just not trying

So the kids talking, we learned that the way that the G -Men are consistently growing, and this is like the most broad and plain shots that Marvel and the X -Men you could possibly have here, since Godolkin is our Professor X counterpart, he has been taking kids from orphanages wherever.

putting them through training in V -shots as children, molesting them, and just overall being like the biggest piece of shit that we've seen yet in this comic book. Before he can finish the story, one of the G -men teleports in, it's the Nightcrawler version of the G -men, kills the kid, and then we see the entire group of G -men with the professor standing in front of the mansion on the lawn, ready to fight. He starts marching towards them.

Everyone else kind of does the same. They start to turn and walk towards it looks like your stereotypical like heroes marching in a movie towards an epic fight and before they can even throw a punch Vought shows up with helicopters and guns and flamethrowers Massacres every single member of the G men including goodulcan wipes them all out Case closed they're gone. See you later We get one epilogue. It's a pretty good one

It's a it's a very tidy tie -up of this whole story mother's milk goes back to Massachusetts He gives silver Kincaid's dad some closure The female goes back to mob hits despite Frenchie pleading with her not to do so We get some Huey and starlight Butcher finds out the CIA director was using silver Kincaid as an informant, which is what ultimately jeopardized Huey So in very true butcher fashion, he fucks her

Kill Me (12:57.833)
And while he is inside her, he tells her if she ever does something like that again, he'll go to her house. He'll kill her husband. He'll kill her children and then he'll kill her. The trade ends with Butcher standing behind her doggy style, smiling over her shoulders, saying that he's going to kill her. I can't think of a more fitting end to another tough read from Garth. There you have it. We got to go now.

It's a wrap.

Matt - CDWA (13:30.382)
You did it Dave.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (13:31.451)
Yeah, you did it. That was, that was pretty good. Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (13:34.83)
It was very good.

Kill Me (13:35.049)
I gotta say at the end of every one of these recaps, you both do that every time you go, hey, you did it. He's just, I just get credit for doing it. I've completed the task.

Matt - CDWA (13:38.926)
You're a very good recap, I could not do these, so... I couldn't reca - No, you do it well.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (13:40.379)
Yeah, nah, ye -

The problem with this one for me is if you had said what happened in this one, I would have went, um, so you did great.

Kill Me (13:52.713)
Okay, great. Thanks.

Matt - CDWA (13:53.774)
Like it's slightly good thing. It's more readable, but like Eric said, I still, I don't know what's going on completely. Like I don't like other comics I read, I have more of a full grass. You put me on something that's killing the children. I get it. This, I get the overall theme, but there's a lot that I don't pick up, but I'm going to say it's a positive cause it's somewhat readable. The first three trades or whatever we did, I had no clue what was really going on whatsoever.

outside of just debauchery, sex, shock value, little bit of racism here and there, a little bit of ableism, like I didn't know what was going on. So like I at least kind of understood this a little bit. Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (14:26.043)
Yeah.

Kill Me (14:37.193)
Real quick, two of the symptoms of Stockholm syndrome syndrome are perceiving basic dignity as kindness and feeling powerless. Two things that you just alluded to, I might add.

Matt - CDWA (14:42.67)
Well, we're in.

Matt - CDWA (14:47.534)
I feel, I'm, well, well, this is going to be a great case study for all of us. We can add it to the case files. Like there are a lot of good things. It's like, it's all horrible shit. You know, like, I don't know. Um, I really want to hear what you guys have to say, but like the couple things that I really liked, like that whole, I actually wrote the issue number, but the whole issue where like Vaught completely wipes the floor with those heroes. Like,

Dr. Fallen Legnog (14:48.987)
Yes.

Kill Me (14:55.881)
Hehehehehe

Matt - CDWA (15:16.398)
I was assuming these heroes are going to have a come up because like it's just Vaught. They're just like military dudes. Like it's just guys with guns. You assume the heroes are going to pull out the stops. Oh no, it did not go that direction at all. Like dudes got wiped. They got torched and got shot up. And you're like, holy shit. And then the guy at the end, I should have wrote the quote down, but he's like, we know how to clean up our own messes, like clean up our own shit or something like that. Like that was like, okay. Like I knew Vaught had that superhero side.

but they also have that like military might side. Like we know that they're tied in with the military and all that from the contracting, but like to see it on display, I was like, okay, I see you there a little bit. Dave, I know when I saw Bagpipe originally and the original teams and the G -Wiz team, I didn't initially think of the X -Men.

I actually thought of the Legion of Superheroes in Bob Dobeus. I don't know why. Throwback to Erie, Pennsylvania. Sorry. But like I thought of Books galore. That's what I thought of. But yeah, it's it's definitely an X -Men analog. Like we can get that. But my other thing is I really liked Mother's Milk's kind of arc. He had something to do this time. Like he's just been black guy in the corner and doesn't really, you know, says something every once in a while. But like.

Kill Me (16:10.857)
Hehehehehe

Kill Me (16:18.921)
All right.

Kill Me (16:30.761)
Yes.

Matt - CDWA (16:36.526)
he actually did something. And then the whole story, his whole conversation with Paul's brother about Grace, that obviously hit me a little bit. And then how he lost his daughter and had to go back and then the butcher's involvement to help him get his daughters back. Like I liked that whole, that arc, but yeah, that was my good stuff. So.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (17:00.315)
Yeah. Hey, shout out Books Galore. I've got books in my collection that I bought there. So yeah, yeah.

Matt - CDWA (17:02.574)
Yeah, you know, you're an eerie guy too, I forgot. All right, yeah, yeah, yeah, my bad. My bad, easy. Not for me.

Kill Me (17:03.721)
Yeah. Hell yeah.

Kill Me (17:10.409)
It's okay.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (17:13.403)
Well, who's going to go, you said you have a lot of good things. Okay, I don't have a lot. I do. I really, I really like that they want to do a take on the X -Men. And although I'm not sure I like what they did with it. The thing I like best is when they are first looking at like the chart with all of the different G -Men on it, they directly reference Nightcrawler and there is no Nightcrawler on that chart. Like they just go ahead and reference Nightcrawler, which was really funny to me.

Kill Me (17:14.729)
You go next. You go next.

Matt - CDWA (17:16.686)
I think you gotta go.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (17:42.811)
because there is like just so thinly veiled X -Men. This is a good and bad Starlight's all about showing boobs now, but that's not her choice. That's Garth Ennis' choice, which makes it a little creepy because sometimes it's done at times when I'm like, I don't think we should be seeing her boobs right now. That's a weird, it's a weird emotional moment for that to be happening. What should I be thinking right now? So I don't, that was probably not a good, but I really like.

Kill Me (17:55.177)
Mm -hmm.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (18:11.707)
during the whole St. Patrick's Day scene, when butcher is talking about as a non American, observing how Americans try to connect themselves to like all these different nationalities. And he's like, y 'all sound like Americans to me. I did not like the the racism mixed in there where he was basically saying, who can tell the difference between these three Asian countries, which was really fucking weird that they needed to put that in there.

Matt - CDWA (18:20.366)
Damn it, Eric. Damn it.

Kill Me (18:38.985)
Yeah. Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (18:40.315)
But I did like the concept high level of what he was saying. And then my my final like thing that I really like and I keep laughing about it is the final panel of the book of this volume that you referenced with butcher behind. What's your name? The CIA agent? Director Rainer, it's just in a black frame that just says rodeo fuck.

Matt - CDWA (19:00.494)
uh... Rainer.

Kill Me (19:01.385)
Director Rayner.

Matt - CDWA (19:07.95)
I'm sorry.

Kill Me (19:08.745)
Hehehehehe

Dr. Fallen Legnog (19:09.115)
And I'm like, what? I just I keep thinking about that. I went back and looked at it multiple times and laughed just because it was fucking funny. But yes, so those those were my standout good slash bads. I have more bads. Don't worry.

Kill Me (19:23.433)
Yeah, I have a few goods that you didn't hit on yet. Did you have more, Matt? Okay, okay. So at the G Mansion brunch, the speech that Gadolkin gave about how humanity won't let them experience things like brunch and they're not able to participate in like the buttery goodness of a croissant or whatever the hell you, I thought that struck me.

Matt - CDWA (19:29.582)
Nah, I'm good. I'm good. I'm good with my good.

Kill Me (19:52.553)
struck a chord with me. I very much laughed out loud at that. It was one of the shining moments of the book for me, just because he went so hard into the parody of the X -Men. It almost turned into a caricature at times, and this was one of those times that I just really appreciated. I appreciated that bit of humor. There's a quote from Butcher, and it was when, I'm pretty sure it was when he and Huey were in the bar on St. Patrick's Day.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (19:53.403)
Ha ha ha ha.

Kill Me (20:22.409)
And Butcher was telling him, hey, like, you're out. Or maybe it was before that. Maybe it was in Huey's Habit 1 to save Gee Whiz. But Butcher looked at him and he said, hey, we're not here to make things better. We're here so they don't get worse. And I think that's an interesting it's an interesting perspective on this world that the boys exist in. And I think it's like the first. It's the first.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (20:38.747)
Yeah.

Kill Me (20:50.249)
Really honest acknowledgement that everything here fucking sucks and it's all terrible And i'm just trying to make it through the day man, like I just don't want to get worse I think that's I I kind of that that type of like apathy strikes a chord with me in media like this and in creative creative forms, I just it's like uh It's sort of like a uh, it's the word i'm looking for here. I'm struggling to find it, but I don't know

Dr. Fallen Legnog (21:19.003)
I do think that that's a significant line because it shows his indifference and establishes them as not heroes trying to save the day, but sort of walking that moral middle ground, you know.

Kill Me (21:33.065)
Yeah It's a bit dystopian. I think that's the word I was looking for it acknowledges that this is relatively dystopian And we're not fully there yet, but I think we're getting there I also wrote down I wrote I don't know why I wrote this down I don't even think it's good anymore But I'm just gonna say because I think it's funny that I wrote it down But for some reason I wrote down five. Oh is the best soup so far? I don't know what happened that I thought that guy was kind of funny

Dr. Fallen Legnog (21:37.019)
Sure.

Matt - CDWA (21:57.582)
Cause he's so ridiculous. Dude, his outfit's ridiculous. He's got like a giant glove on his head and he's a cop. Like yeah, with the giant, with the old police hat, like he's ridiculous.

Kill Me (22:01.897)
And he's like a, well, he's a cop. Yeah. Yeah. But I don't know why something must have happened where I was like, man, this guy rocks. But like, I can't think of why now by the end of the comic, I was like, I'm glad he's dead. He did. Well, I think he was like, he was like, he was like the Cyclops. He was the Cyclops of the group. So I think the lights were supposed to be the optic blasts.

Matt - CDWA (22:14.254)
Didn't he have sirens on his head too? They were like red, red, like, yeah, like.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (22:14.843)
Like lights.

Matt - CDWA (22:21.966)
That makes sense.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (22:23.195)
He was like Chip's Cyclops.

Matt - CDWA (22:26.286)
Yeah, exactly.

Kill Me (22:27.273)
Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's a great way to say that. I also have Huey and Starlight's relationship. It takes so much longer than the show for them to kind of put it all out there in terms of what their real lives are. And there's something far more interesting about how much lying they have to do to each other here. I just think that the fallout is going to be extremely fun to read when they do finally clear the air. I don't know when it's coming, but.

Matt - CDWA (22:51.534)
Yeah.

Kill Me (22:56.617)
It happens in like the first several episodes of the show and here we're, you know, I don't know how many issues in feels like a hundred, but, um, we're about to be.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (23:04.923)
Yeah, I think we're in the 90s, aren't we? You mentioned the TV show though, in this volume, almost nothing that that aligns with anything from the TV show.

Matt - CDWA (23:05.838)
You know what it was this.

Kill Me (23:16.009)
No. The only show alignment is when they reference herogasm about to happen.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (23:22.683)
Right, which never happens in this volume.

Kill Me (23:24.873)
Right. I think it's the next, I think it's volume five. And then my last good, and this I'd like to point out that I don't think what happened is good, but I think the way that it happened was interesting and kind of funny. But the way, I mean,

I didn't mention it in the recap, but when I talked about Godolkin abducting children and starting to train them and give them V as children, he referred to that group of child heroes as pre -wiz.

Kill Me (24:03.465)
The way that Vaught disposed of that new team of pre -Wiz kids, I thought was awesome. Because the whole time, yes, it is such a masterful misdirection that it's really hard to pull off in a visual media like comic books where it's panel to panel, page to page. It's hard to surprise somebody with something like that. And maybe it was easier to surprise me because I was reading on

Dr. Fallen Legnog (24:10.587)
dropping them out of a plane.

Kill Me (24:31.817)
a digital format with guided view. So I didn't see a spoiler out of my peripheral, but man, I love that. I love that. I'd also like to take this, this moment to point out that rationalizing abuse is also a symptom of Stockholm syndrome. So I'm going to check that one off right now, cause that's what I just did. You're welcome.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (24:47.547)
Okay, okay, yeah

Matt - CDWA (24:50.542)
Thank you for calling yourself out. We appreciate that.

I need the checklist next episode. I don't know. Should have printed it out. Got some resources on campus. I don't know.

Kill Me (24:57.801)
We have three symptoms left. I hope we get to them.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (25:05.915)
Oh, well, I mean, we haven't done bad or outrageous yet. So the chances are good. Real good.

Matt - CDWA (25:06.318)
Probably will.

Kill Me (25:09.289)
Yeah, no, I think we're definitely gonna get there. Yeah, who wants to go bad? I you know, I'll start the bad And I'll be brief because most of mine is outrageous and good this month Just like the absolute overwhelming amount of racism. I'm not gonna get into detail I'll let you guys get into specific examples if you'd like to I'm just gonna leave it there and then Everything that has to do with G coast and G style It's like a sub bullet basically, but yeah, like Ennis is truly a piece of shit

Matt - CDWA (25:16.238)
videos.

Matt - CDWA (25:33.71)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (25:34.683)
Everything.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (25:38.811)
Yeah. It's awful.

Kill Me (25:39.145)
He's a piece of shit. That's it. I'll jump in when you guys get into specifics if you want to. That's it for me.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (25:47.579)
I mean, that was also my number one. It's just the way the characters are portrayed, the way the teams are named, the way the dialogue is written. There's like one like big like two page like splash panel where every dialogue bubble is just like you wrote this and thought it was OK to put out there. It was it was it was awful to read. However, it did occur to me that.

as he was using the G team names, he was like, using G and like, West Coast, like gangster style G and I was like, Oh, okay, I get it. I get it. Yeah. Yeah. So that was number one.

Matt - CDWA (26:26.222)
That's what you sh - shug night, dude. East Coast bad boy.

Kill Me (26:31.305)
Yeah, that whole page of dialogue that you're talking about reads like somebody went to chat GPT and said, write an argument between two groups of people in Ebonics.

Matt - CDWA (26:45.678)
Yes, that's a -

Dr. Fallen Legnog (26:47.259)
It's kind of, and in it, I mean, it definitely feels like Garth Ennis wrote it.

Matt - CDWA (26:54.478)
Yes.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (26:55.867)
You know? So also my next one, and this one might be bigger overall, I think whether you liked or disliked the first three volumes, it's hard to deny that they had a decent pace. They remained engaging. There was a lot going on. This is the first one where although there was some interesting stuff that would happen once in a while, I was pretty bored reading this, especially the first.

Kill Me (26:57.481)
Yes.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (27:22.683)
the first like arc of it the first hundred pages I was like Jesus Christ, can we get on with it? Nothing is happening. Like it moved slow. There was not enough that happened in this entire thing. Like when you recapped it, I'm like, are you pulled more out of there than what you probably needed to because there was so much that just was like, you know, dialogue that was not necessarily growing my understanding of the characters or the story. And I was just like, all right, enough.

Also, different than Matt, for the first time reading this, there were several times where I felt a little confused about what was happening or who a character was, again, a bunch of white dudes in suits that like there's one point where they're going, you know, there's this conversation and it ends it reveals with a photo of a person. And it took until probably just now that I'm pretty sure it was Godalcon that they were looking at. And I'm like, but when I read it, I'm like,

Kill Me (28:06.057)
Mm -hmm.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (28:20.219)
What am I supposed to be a big reveal to me who the fuck is this? And what does this matter? Like, it just didn't mean anything, you know? Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (28:26.318)
There's a lot of white guys in suits, like we can make them a little bit more distinctive characters or something, I don't know. Or use names, like I feel like they don't even use names, it's just like mysterious, I don't know.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (28:31.131)
to do something right.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (28:36.123)
Not as much, like...

Kill Me (28:38.985)
Garth Ennis does this though. He he in some of his more ridiculous works like the boys, he just he doesn't it's like he doesn't give a shit if you like it or not or if you can follow it or not or like it made sense to him. So fuck this and fuck you either read it or don't.

Matt - CDWA (28:53.23)
Does it?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (28:59.643)
That's it. He doesn't stop to think what is the reader experiencing. He's going, uh, my stream of consciousness. This is what you get. But I do think, I think there was a lot of things that were confusing here that maybe were intentionally. So maybe you were unintentionally. So like, I thought it was, I actually went back and I was like, did I miss something? Did I flip past a page? But when the G man that they kidnap and they're forcing to tell them everything,

gets to the part where he's saying what happens to them as kids. I'm like, did I, did they just skim over what happened there? They never explicitly say or show anything, which is maybe for the best. But given everything that Garth Ennis has done and shown in this series so far, I'm shocked there wasn't some more direct illusion or reference. I even was like, cause there's a reference later where they're like, oh, they're forcing the G men to kill the other G men. And I'm like, is that what they're talking about?

because it seems obvious that they're talking about some sort of, you know, pedophilia or molestation or something there, but it's never direct about it. They just sort of reference and dance around.

Matt - CDWA (30:10.67)
It was just, yeah, it was just like a Dalton standing there looking at the kid weird. And that's like, all right, like, I don't know. You can take it however you want, you know?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (30:18.139)
Yeah.

Kill Me (30:20.233)
I kind of, I am almost grateful that you may be, well, yeah, I mean, obviously you wouldn't, you can't, I mean, I don't think you can show that. I think it, I think, yeah, but it's also, it was published by dynamite. Dynamite's pretty loose, but like even they, someone in editorial has to draw the line at fucking children. Um, but I,

Matt - CDWA (30:24.11)
We don't show it. Yeah. Well, I mean, this is NS, you know, I don't know. Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (30:25.051)
Yeah, I am too.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (30:41.851)
Well, I mean, I don't necessarily need them to show it, but if somebody could go, oh my God, they were doing that stuff to children or something like that, you know, just reference it because it did feel like they, they may have backed off of it too much to the point where I was like, maybe I missed something. But then, and Dave, you, I think you brought this up on the previous volume. I could have sworn that butcher found footage.

Kill Me (30:49.577)
Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (30:56.91)
the

Kill Me (30:57.705)
Yeah, maybe.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (31:07.771)
of the seven where he saw starlight and recognized that that's who Huey is dating. But that has never come up. He's never referenced it to Huey. They just have not gone back to it or referenced it. Am I did I didn't imagine that right? Okay, that's what I thought.

Matt - CDWA (31:20.654)
That was the end of last trade. That was literally like the last part.

Kill Me (31:21.609)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're just leaving that to dangle for now.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (31:28.635)
Okay. Okay. I mean, those those are my bad things it being kind of boring it being super racist and it being a little confusing.

Kill Me (31:35.881)
I like that you let off with super boring and not super racist. I know I'm just I'm just I'm just making jokes.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (31:40.091)
I mean, yeah. Listen, to me, clearly being boring is worse, I guess. I don't know. Like you can be racist if it's interesting. No, that's not that's not true.

Matt - CDWA (31:41.678)
I mean, you covered the racism, though. You covered the racism, there.

Matt - CDWA (31:50.382)
Heheheheh

Kill Me (31:50.505)
Hehehehehe

Matt - CDWA (31:55.15)
We know what we signed up for here. We know the assignment.

Kill Me (31:59.977)
Yeah, well, I mean, actually, I don't think we did until we read the first one and we're like, oh, fuck, this was this is the homework.

Matt - CDWA (32:03.15)
No, yeah, uh, yeah, this is...

Dr. Fallen Legnog (32:05.883)
I'm still not sure I know.

Kill Me (32:08.617)
Yeah, fair.

Matt - CDWA (32:11.054)
I don't have, you guys covered a lot of my stuff, so no, no, that's fine. Just some of the debauchery and the bathroom scene where they're pissing in the dude's mouth. The frat house in specific is close to me just because I worked maintenance on campus at some fraternity houses at an institution. And seeing that picture just...

Kill Me (32:14.249)
I'm sorry.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (32:23.931)
You

Matt - CDWA (32:39.214)
kind of gave me some like smell -o -vision and I can remember that. And it like turned my stomach. There wasn't a jerk -off room or anything like that. But like, well that I know of, but like just those general smells in that environment, I was just like, oh no, I can't.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (32:44.347)
You

Kill Me (32:44.489)
Oh my god.

that you know of.

Kill Me (32:54.665)
The context that you just said the word Smell -O -Vision physically made me ill.

Matt - CDWA (32:59.054)
But that's what I'm saying. I was, I open those pages and I see like the John Belushi guy puking all over the place and I'm like, oh my God, like it just turned my stomach and put me back to a place. Yeah, a dark place.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (32:59.579)
You

Kill Me (33:02.185)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (33:08.891)
Listen.

Any room can be a jerk -off room.

Matt - CDWA (33:13.262)
It can't, it can. But did it? Oh, yeah. Never mind. And now Frenchie is the most confusing to me. I'll be honest, dude. I just blow by his dialogue. I can't even read it or understand it half the time. I'll be honest. Mona Mima, like I can't, nope. Just, I'll pick up on the context clues of the other characters in the panel. Like I can't even read his dialogue. So hopefully he doesn't say something super important because I'm going to have no clue.

Kill Me (33:14.473)
You're right. You're right.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (33:25.339)
same. I don't try to make sense of it.

Kill Me (33:25.801)
Hahahaha

Dr. Fallen Legnog (33:31.035)
Yeah.

Kill Me (33:40.681)
So on the spectrum of comic book characters that mix French and English, Gambit is about the limit that we can stomach. Frenchie is a bridge too far. Okay. Yeah, same.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (33:49.947)
Yes.

Matt - CDWA (33:49.966)
Yeah, exactly. I can't. It's a bridge too far. I don't know. I don't know that much French, so.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (33:55.963)
I've resorted to when I get to his speech bubbles. I'm like, quickly identify what's not in English and just look for the English words.

Matt - CDWA (34:03.182)
Hehehehehe

Dr. Fallen Legnog (34:06.203)
It doesn't always make sense.

Kill Me (34:06.441)
I am trying to learn French. I am trying to figure out what the words mean. No, I'm not doing that stuff. I do read it, but like it's like I try to do context clues a little bit, but I don't try real hard. I kind of just glance over it is what it is.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (34:19.483)
I have started doing Duolingo so that I can be a better reader for Garth Ennis.

Matt - CDWA (34:24.142)
Exactly.

Kill Me (34:26.313)
Uh, ooh. Attempting to help the abuser is another symptom of Stockholm Syndrome. Check! Well, I got two left.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (34:30.587)
Perfect.

Matt - CDWA (34:30.958)
Two left, two left.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (34:41.179)
Uh, you want some outrageous?

Kill Me (34:43.881)
Matt, you start the outrageous. You haven't started one of these yet tonight.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (34:45.083)
You start the outrageous.

Matt - CDWA (34:46.702)
Now, over the top are outrageous. Like, obviously the movie theater thing and the fraternity house is a little out of control. You get, you know, people, you do what you do. You do what you want to do out there, but that wouldn't even technically classify as a circle jerk that we watched. That was more like a NHL line change. Cause there was like four guys on a side or something. Like, I don't even know how you would classify that. Like that, that's, that's a shift.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (35:08.123)
the

Matt - CDWA (35:15.182)
Those are shifts, so I don't - that was a little bit interesting that Huey walked in on that after just taking a shower or whatever. It was, it was like dudes were in a row, I don't know, it's something different. I'm sorry. I'm glad I got you with that one.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (35:15.739)
you

Kill Me (35:19.081)
Who's the funniest fucking thing anyone's ever said on this pumpkin? NHLY, Jake.

Yeah.

Kill Me (35:33.161)
Crying.

Kill Me (35:36.969)
Ha ha ha ha!

guys.

Matt - CDWA (35:41.006)
Eric mentioned it with the St. Patrick's Day thing. Like I had the same thought about like identity and like how we all like, oh, people are like, oh, I'm excited for St. Patrick's Day and all they do is drink or like Juneteenth is a day off now. It's just a day off. Like we don't reflect or remember anything or it's everything's kind of been bastardized. So, you know, I just kind of have the same thought Eric had there. My, my, I don't know if this is a hot take, but Eric said it earlier.

If we trim this down to about six issues...

I think this is a really quality comic. If we trim some of the bullshit out, I'm not gonna say it's an all -timer, but if we kind of trim some of this stuff out, do you guys agree this could be a good comic book? There's some good moments in this. There's some good moments we have here, but it's like three issues too long every trade. And that's where I think we get lost. It's just this ridiculous filler you don't need. So.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (36:21.147)
The whole series?

Kill Me (36:45.449)
I mean, to be fair, the last two we read that were eight issues were two four -issue stories in one trade. This one was an eight -issue story.

Matt - CDWA (36:54.574)
True, that's a good point.

Kill Me (36:58.025)
I mean, think if you were reading this monthly, this was 67 % of the year was you reading this.

Matt - CDWA (36:59.854)
There's no way I would know it. Dude, I would not know what is going on in this comic if I read it. There's no, I couldn't retain that much information. This is not, I can't retain this comment like that.

Kill Me (37:09.449)
Yeah. I mean, we've talked about this before, though. Some things are just better read in trade.

Matt - CDWA (37:14.766)
Yeah, there's... Yeah, no way. But...

Dr. Fallen Legnog (37:18.427)
I was gonna say if I was reading it monthly, this would be the point where I would have quit, but I would have quit a long time ago.

Matt - CDWA (37:22.35)
I would have dropped in trade too. Like I would have been done. Like that was all I had.

Kill Me (37:24.745)
Yeah, me too.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (37:27.035)
Yeah.

Kill Me (37:27.817)
Yeah, same.

All right, Eric.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (37:35.131)
Late in this in this trade, the the concept of somebody coming under Huey's door comes back, which was like an offhanded reference in the first volume. But what I want to know is, who can come that much? Because it's a huge puddle coming under the door. It's like, it's like, it's like a horse out there or something. That's a lot of calm.

Matt - CDWA (37:43.854)
Yes, you said it.

Matt - CDWA (37:48.398)
Yeah.

Kill Me (37:53.225)
It is, with blood in it.

Yeah. I mean, what we don't know is how many people are doing this. Maybe it's a group.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (38:01.691)
They all stand outside the door and just take a broom and push it under. Yeah, I guess I don't know.

Kill Me (38:05.481)
Maybe.

Yeah, who knows? Maybe the floor isn't level and it just rolls down hill. I don't know.

Matt - CDWA (38:14.19)
Line change, dude. I'm telling you. Shit. Three dudes skate on the ice. It's a line change.

Kill Me (38:15.561)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (38:15.611)
You

That also explains why there's blood in it. So I also wanted to talk about the the porn jerk off room at the G mansion. We'll see. We'll see. Because the way I looked at it, I was like, I don't know if this was outrageous for the reasons that Garth Ennis wanted it to be outrageous, right? Because if I looked at it, and I'm like, this is a huge,

Kill Me (38:30.345)
I do too actually. I bet we're gonna say the same thing.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (38:50.555)
reminder of how much time has passed between when he wrote these and now because things have changed. Like, who the fuck is collecting hard copy porn? Nobody. And and number two, I don't think it was as weird back then as it is now for dudes to watch porn together. Because I think it used to be a thing where somebody would be like, Hey, everybody get together. I brought the movie, you know, and dudes would sit and like high five and

Kill Me (39:00.841)
Yeah, yeah, okay.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (39:19.739)
jack off. I don't know what they would do. I don't know. But I think that was that was more normal, right? I don't know. So

Matt - CDWA (39:26.67)
I will back you up and say that I have heard of that happening back in the day. People get hard, cause they're hard copy porn too. It's like, Oh, I got a porno. Let's all get together.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (39:30.683)
Yeah, I think.

Kill Me (39:31.145)
Okay, okay.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (39:36.027)
Right? Like, you know, you'd have your bachelor party or something and get the real the real projector and everybody would drink and cheer. Well, you know, a black and white woman danced in a circle and sugar ass. I don't know. Right. You know what I'm saying? How dudes used to watch porn together in like the 40s.

Matt - CDWA (39:41.518)
That's real.

Kill Me (39:50.889)
What the fuck are you talking about?

Kill Me (39:59.145)
Okay.

Matt - CDWA (40:00.462)
It would come in by horse. Like, would it? Try this with friggin'

Dr. Fallen Legnog (40:02.587)
The Pony Express delivered it. No, I mean, like, you know, I think watching a video or whatever, you know, back at that time was probably not as weird.

Kill Me (40:02.633)
Sure, man.

Kill Me (40:10.121)
Yeah, yeah, no, I get it. I get it. You just lost me for a second. I'm back.

Matt - CDWA (40:12.75)
We also need to clarify, we need to clarify black and white woman in the context of Garth Ennis works, just that fly. I was very confused, but real, real, I got you, got you. I just want to be clear. We just need to be clear.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (40:19.707)
Oh, no, no, I meant black and white. A woman on a black and white film. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's that's that's true. That's true. Although Garth Ennis wouldn't call her black. But so yeah, it's just I was.

Matt - CDWA (40:32.974)
It's true, that's true.

Kill Me (40:35.657)
Did you call her? Yes, you're right. He would call her Nubia. You're right. I'm going to save you from yourself.

Matt - CDWA (40:38.03)
I'm going to go.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (40:38.651)
Ha ha!

Thanks. Yeah, he would he would call her not storm. So that whole that whole thing was weird, but not for the reasons I think he wanted it to be weird. And also the type support he mentioned, I'm like, I mean, there's there's way stranger and weirder stuff that are totally mainstream and normal now than what he listed. So but yeah, and then yeah, yeah, no, I'd love to know what you're gonna say about it.

Matt - CDWA (40:44.59)
Yes.

Kill Me (40:45.257)
Yeah. Yeah, she'd look like Storm.

Matt - CDWA (41:00.366)
Yeah.

Kill Me (41:04.105)
Okay, you're right. We aren't saying the same things. You're right.

Well you can fi - go ahead and finish yours and I'll -

Dr. Fallen Legnog (41:10.779)
No, I was gonna say all that that stuff didn't seem as weird to me. But then them pissing in that dude's mouth and then being like, we should come in his mouth to us like, oh, okay. That's not as normal. I don't think that's a thing that people do. I mean, maybe some people do but like, you know, dudes hanging out don't generally do that. I don't think maybe I'm just hanging out with the wrong dudes. I don't know.

Kill Me (41:32.777)
Maybe, we were hanging out quite a bit, so I feel like we didn't, I think we're good. Yeah, I think we're good.

Matt - CDWA (41:35.278)
That's how.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (41:36.571)
That's true. That's true. We've never done that. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me what you think about the jerk -off room.

Kill Me (41:45.001)
All right, well, that's gonna be my last outrageous thing. It's actually a list of outrageous things. Do you have more? I don't wanna cut in line here.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (41:47.547)
Okay.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (41:52.251)
Okay, listen.

I was going to talk about number one, the fact that they keep calling that character monkey, which I think is probably a racist reference.

Kill Me (42:01.961)
Yeah, you know what, man, I didn't realize that until this this issue, this trade. That's when I was like, oh, fuck, that's racist. I didn't I didn't catch it before somehow.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (42:06.843)
Yeah. Yeah.

I don't know if he has another name, so I don't know how to reference him. But right, that butcher has a nickname. Yeah. Okay. I yeah.

Kill Me (42:15.209)
Yeah, right. That guy that works for the CIA. That's how you can reference him. Or does he work for Vaught? I don't remember, honestly. CIA guy. Is that the dude that was at the diner in the beginning waiting outside because he saw the girl in the wheelchair, which we've also not talked about yet somehow.

Matt - CDWA (42:23.758)
See ya.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (42:30.107)
Yeah. The woman in a wheelchair. Yeah.

That's what I'm bringing up. Him, his whole thing with the woman in the wheelchair and then Butcher like tricks him by hiring somebody to pretend they're in a wheelchair. That whole thing I was like, oh boy, what are they doing here?

Matt - CDWA (42:34.99)
Yeah

Kill Me (42:36.553)
Okay, great, sorry, sorry.

Kill Me (42:47.465)
Did you notice he had wheelchair porn posters on the wall in his apartment? Yeah, there's two.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (42:50.715)
No, no. I don't know if that's funny or not, but I didn't realize that it's that. Yeah. Anyway. Yeah. And then the panels of the G teams getting mowed down, which were hella extreme and kind of awesome.

Kill Me (42:58.153)
Hehehehehe

Kill Me (43:08.905)
They were kind of awesome.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (43:10.363)
All right, get outrageous day.

Kill Me (43:12.297)
Alright, so, um, page 40, which I think would have been the second or third issue in the trade, when MM is in Massachusetts in Cranbrook, and he's in that store buying maple syrup. Why the fuck is that cashier Marge Simpson?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (43:30.971)
Yes, yes, totally Marge Simpson green dress, blue beehive. I was I was actually we were we were in Vancouver and I was just sitting in the car chilling waiting for Christie and I was reading a few panels on that and I was at that part and if I would have had something to write it down I would have been like Marge Simpson because I thought that too.

Kill Me (43:36.521)
Yeah, what the fuck? Where'd that come from? Why did that happen? I don't understand.

Kill Me (43:57.065)
I had to double take it and then I was like am I is this I'm sure I had to Google Marge Simpson just to make sure the green dress was the right color because I was doubting myself so heavily I Agree with all the things you both already said that were outrageous I I wrote down like Huey walking into the G was jerk theater and seeing like the line change that we're now gonna refer to it as I will never ever forget that but

Dr. Fallen Legnog (44:05.851)
Yes.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (44:21.691)
Hahaha.

Kill Me (44:25.769)
There were a lot of like funny background. Well, they're not all funny, but funny background things in this trade. And maybe I'm just noticing these things for the first time and they've always been here. But there were a bunch that I wrote down. So during the St. Patrick's Day stuff, there's like one shot of some dudes like in the bar outside or something. One of the shirts that one of the guys is wearing just says, fuck you, if you're not Irish. I thought that was pretty funny.

Matt - CDWA (44:51.214)
You

Dr. Fallen Legnog (44:51.451)
That that's that would be a pretty funny actual St. Patrick's Day shirt.

Kill Me (44:57.513)
Yeah, it would. There's that one scene with Frenchie and the female where they're doing their surveillance, making sure he was OK and they're playing Scrabble. And on their Scrabble board, there's a bunch of words that would like make sense based on their two character types. And there's a word that doesn't fit anyone. And the word was mouth rape.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (45:18.491)
Yeah, I read those too.

Kill Me (45:21.225)
And I was like, okay, well, I don't know why we're doing that, but that's fine. And then this is what I was gonna, this is what I thought you were gonna say about the porno room at the G -Wiz house. There's a shot of a table with a bunch of porn videos on it. And there were titles on all of those videos. And some of those titles were absolutely ridiculous. I'm just gonna read all of them for everyone.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (45:40.955)
the

Dr. Fallen Legnog (45:48.827)
Oh good.

Kill Me (45:50.153)
Butt Finger Trilogy.

semen explosion.

Matt - CDWA (45:56.718)
Oh my God.

Kill Me (45:57.865)
This fist for hire.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (46:00.091)
No.

Kill Me (46:01.449)
There was one that the image on the cover was a girl getting her ass eaten and the title was You Better Believe It's Not Butter.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (46:12.219)
That's funny.

Matt - CDWA (46:12.59)
That's actually pretty funny. That's actually pretty funny.

Kill Me (46:14.761)
It is. It is. And my favorite one, there's something about Mary's pussy.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (46:23.099)
That's probably real.

Matt - CDWA (46:23.406)
That's pretty funny too.

Kill Me (46:24.233)
It probably is.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (46:27.163)
Speaking of noticing random things in the background, I just sent a picture. There's a poster on the wall in the G mansion at one point. That's just a real person. And I'm like, is this a significant who is that a significant person?

Matt - CDWA (46:37.422)
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah!

Kill Me (46:38.473)
Oh!

I don't know, maybe it's Garth Ennis' wife.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (46:44.123)
I don't I actually did a reverse image search on Google to see if it's somebody significant and it came up with nothing.

Kill Me (46:52.777)
Well, those of you that listen to the podcast, you will never know what this looks like unless you read volume four. So, sorry about you. Don't read volume four. If you haven't read this comic, you don't need to.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (46:55.867)
No, you have no idea.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (47:00.891)
It's a here's what it is. It's not Uma Thurman from Pulp Fiction.

Matt - CDWA (47:07.63)
Yeah, it kinda looks like Angelina Jolie a little bit. I don't know.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (47:11.163)
Oh, a little bit, a little bit.

Kill Me (47:14.857)
That's it for my outrageous. I have no more outrageous.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (47:17.243)
Rats.

Kill Me (47:19.433)
favorite and least likable time. I have two new ones.

Matt - CDWA (47:24.718)
Amen baby, amen favorite this time.

Kill Me (47:28.905)
Yep, me too.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (47:31.547)
I picked the female because I want to know what's going on with her because she keeps showing up for a couple pages and then they just move on and the way they left things off, something is happening, but I can't figure out what.

Matt - CDWA (47:33.966)
Yeah. Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (47:45.038)
You were fascinated by the female. You love the female. We got to...

Dr. Fallen Legnog (47:48.507)
Yeah, I wanna know.

Kill Me (47:50.377)
Earlier on in the trade, there's a scene where she's like on the couch and gripped up pretty hard and seemingly in distress and Frenchy makes a comment about how like she needs to unleash soon or something to that effect. So yeah, I'm curious. I'm curious to see where that's going because she is one of the more interesting characters.

Matt - CDWA (48:04.75)
Yeah, like, yeah, yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (48:09.147)
Well, and it like, it leaves off where they're like in a van somewhere and he's like saying, you know, don't do this. And she goes off to do something.

Kill Me (48:21.289)
She's gonna go back to do mob hits because she wants to be violent.

They were at the place where he got her like two trades ago or one trade ago when she was in Little Wobbly as Frenchie so eloquently put it.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (48:35.867)
Oh, yeah. Yes.

But yeah, I'm intrigued.

Kill Me (48:46.537)
Matt, I'm with you on MM. Easily the most likable this time. He doesn't do anything problematic ever.

Matt - CDWA (48:53.902)
Yeah, he had something to do. Huey obviously would be the runner up, but I feel like Huey you can pick almost every month. Like, gotta switch it up.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (48:55.995)
yet yet.

Kill Me (49:03.913)
Fair. It's fair. Also, I think that mm even though Huey did try to do the right thing mm strikes me as the true moral compass of the team and The one that he does what he has to do when he has to do it But he doesn't seek it out and I'm speaking of like killing a super being alt ultra violent or Pretty terrible in terms of how he handles things

He does seem like the most likeable member of the team.

Matt - CDWA (49:37.902)
Huey had a little Mark Grayson in him this month when he's trying to save everyone for no reason. Like it's like, no dude, you like, we gotta cut our losses here. Everyone around him is like, tell them what to do, but yeah.

Kill Me (49:43.081)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (49:49.243)
Speaking of, at some point, I want to talk about season two of the animated series of Invincible.

Matt - CDWA (49:53.806)
Hehehehe

Kill Me (49:56.585)
Well Matt hasn't even watched season one yet. Well I haven't finished season two yet so I can't talk about it either but...

Matt - CDWA (49:58.254)
You guys can talk about it. I read the comic. I'm good. I'm good, bro. I read the comic. I'm straight.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (49:59.643)
Oh, no, no, I can talk about it now. Oh, oh, okay. I well guess what? It's not it's not the same. I know it's not the same. I here's the thing. I I spent many years around two people obsessed with the comics. And I know enough about it that I would watch stuff and I'm like, Okay, I know who this character is. And then things that happen. I'm like, it's not happening the way it happens in the books. Okay.

Kill Me (50:05.865)
You're not. It's not the same.

Kill Me (50:23.657)
The first four episodes of season two actually, it got to the point where Abby was like, are we gonna watch invincible? And I was like, no.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (50:33.659)
Same. Same.

Kill Me (50:36.041)
But the second half has been awesome. I've loved the second half of the season so far. We only have one episode left.

We can talk about it. Yeah, we should be able to finish it up this week sometime, so we can talk soon. Least likable, I think we're good on most likable, favorite, whatever. I'll go first, because you guys are going to, I already agree, but Huey's my least likeable.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (50:45.371)
Yeah, and some other time.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (50:49.979)
Nice.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (51:05.723)
Hmm.

Matt - CDWA (51:06.286)
Why? I was curious.

Kill Me (51:07.625)
Dude, dude, he, he jeopardized the entire team with some misguided sense of like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna save these, these kids from turning into the G men. Like, oh, they just, they lack social skills because they were brought up in this environment. They don't know about body autonomy and what, come on, man. Have you not been, have you not been paying attention the entire time? That fucking.

Matt - CDWA (51:11.502)
Okay, grace in this. Grace in this.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (51:19.291)
Yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (51:30.075)
Hahaha!

Matt - CDWA (51:30.382)
You

Kill Me (51:37.545)
Super villain that was fighting a train killed your fucking girlfriend right in front of you and no one gave a shit all that stuff with teenage kicks Everything that they did in Russia how everyone is constantly trying to kill them when they get found out and you're like I'm gonna save them dude fuck off This is one time I was with butcher I was pissed at Huey too

Matt - CDWA (51:42.702)
Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (51:55.246)
That's a good one.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (51:59.483)
Hmm.

Kill Me (52:01.897)
And he's, you know what, he's, I think that, and I don't remember how it played out exactly in the show, but it feels like in the comic, it's, we're leading into Huey kind of being the asshole in the Huey and Starlight reveal when they finally put it all out on the table and what they do. I have a feeling that Huey is going to be a massive piece of shit, particularly because of that blow bang scene. I think it's going to be one of those like, I'm holding your past against you scenarios.

Matt - CDWA (52:26.99)
Mmm.

Kill Me (52:31.881)
He's gonna say a bunch of fucked up shit to her. So I'm preemptively disliking Huey for that too.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (52:35.483)
Okay, okay.

Matt - CDWA (52:37.902)
You're guarding yourself. You're guarding. Is that one of the symptoms of syndrome or no? We're good now? Okay. Okay.

Kill Me (52:43.145)
It's not, it's not actually, we actually don't think we're going to get to the last two symptoms, but you never know.

Matt - CDWA (52:47.566)
I mean mine is gladkin or whatever heinous shit like good dog and whatever yeah obvious reasons but

Dr. Fallen Legnog (52:52.891)
Good dalkin.

Kill Me (52:53.609)
Good talking. Yeah.

Kill Me (52:59.177)
Yeah, I mean, thanks for making me look like a fucking asshole now. Appreciate that. I picked one of the lead characters and you went, I'm going to go with the guy that fucks kids. So now I'm like, what he did was way worse. Thanks.

Matt - CDWA (53:02.286)
I mean, yours is more...

Matt - CDWA (53:09.07)
Hehehehehe

Dr. Fallen Legnog (53:09.659)
Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (53:13.134)
Yeah, I like that you went for it though. You went all in. That's all that matters.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (53:18.683)
I had to initially I wrote down Garth Ennis again. But I think Godalkin is the obvious bad guy.

Matt - CDWA (53:23.406)
You got it.

Matt - CDWA (53:28.238)
He's where I'm from.

Kill Me (53:29.833)
Yeah, I guess I looked at this through the lens of like, obviously that person is the worst character, but in terms of our regular cast, I was trying to stick to who we always see, not someone that was like introduced and killed in the arc.

Matt - CDWA (53:38.83)
Who's up?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (53:41.243)
Oh yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (53:48.027)
Let's see, regular of the regular cast.

Kill Me (53:50.121)
You don't have to switch it up now. It's okay. Your opinion is valid and correct.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (53:54.363)
Yeah, but I mean, also, I wish Frenchie would just translate what he's saying for me or something, you know.

Kill Me (54:02.473)
Yeah, he won't. But yeah.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (54:04.571)
No, it's okay.

Kill Me (54:07.881)
Well, I think we've managed to get through another month of reading the boys. We're a third of the way through. We should feel good about that.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (54:20.059)
Should we?

Matt - CDWA (54:20.59)
A third? Not even half?

Kill Me (54:22.889)
Yeah, no, man. We're a third. It will be halfway in June. We're almost there. It's the end of April. So the two symptoms of Stockholm syndrome that we did not get to. One, affection for or attachment to the abuser.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (54:41.211)
No, no.

Matt - CDWA (54:41.23)
It's probably not gonna happen.

Kill Me (54:43.017)
Nope. And then the other one is distrust of or anger towards those trying to extract them from the situation. So I think we're good. Four out of six though still feels pretty bad.

Matt - CDWA (54:53.358)
Okay.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (54:53.755)
Hmm.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (55:00.155)
But you know what though, if somebody told me I couldn't read these and, and jump on and talk to you about it, I would, I would be like, no, you can't tell me I can't do this. I would get angry. I would try to stop them.

Matt - CDWA (55:10.158)
He's...

Kill Me (55:12.553)
You know what, you're right, it counts, I'm counting it. Five out of six, we got it. Thank you for your honesty. I appreciate that. Well.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (55:14.683)
All right. Five of six. Yeah. Last month, though, I think the sixth one, we all were like, maybe we like Garth Ennis now.

Matt - CDWA (55:24.942)
Yeah, yeah.

Kill Me (55:25.161)
Yeah, no, you're right. I wasn't gonna I was gonna clean slate it, but you're right. We did do that last month. So I'm gonna that cat that yeah, that technically counts six out of six boys. We have Stockholm syndrome.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (55:31.579)
Yeah.

six of six. Hell yeah.

Matt - CDWA (55:36.942)
We got it.

Kill Me (55:39.209)
Great, great for us. Great news for us. Well, hey, if you've stuck around this long, if you've made it this deep into our let's read for twenty twenty four, don't stop now. We'll be back in a month with volume five. And I'm sure it can't be worse than pedophilia, right?

Dr. Fallen Legnog (55:52.667)
You

What what's I mean, I was gonna say other than what we've seen what what gets worse.

Matt - CDWA (55:57.966)
Probably not. Probably not, but...

Kill Me (56:02.505)
I don't know. I don't know. Well, there's only one way to find out. Come back next month and listen to this podcast. We do appreciate everyone that's stuck around and people that are finding us for the first time too. If you've come here from Instagram or TikTok, welcome aboard. We love having you here. We'll be back with this trio in a month to talk more boys. Matt and I'll have something in between. We don't know what yet, but hopefully you like it. And until next time.

Matt - CDWA (56:03.118)
It always does though, it always does.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (56:04.859)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Matt - CDWA (56:07.982)
That's the greatest spell you've ever done!

Kill Me (56:31.785)
My name is Dave.

Matt - CDWA (56:32.782)
And I'm out.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (56:34.043)
and I'm Eric.

Kill Me (56:35.177)
Take care of yourselves everybody, bye bye.

Matt - CDWA (56:37.038)
Peace.

Dr. Fallen Legnog (56:37.979)
Bye.
